A 10-step walkthrough with real screenshots from the live cancel flow.
Sign in at my.nordaccount.com, open the Billing tab, click Cancel next to Auto-renewal, then confirm with Cancel auto-renewal. NordVPN keeps working until the expiration date shown on the same page — but note the app charges annual and 2-year subs up to 14 days before that date, so cancel well ahead.
The next renewal is the one you won't. RecurDash keeps the list and emails you before each charge lands.

Wondering if you're paying more than you used to? which subscriptions raised prices this year.
See NordVPN's pricing, tiers, and difficulty score in one page. NordVPN ranks #194 of 235 by cancellation difficulty.
Open my.nordaccount.com in any browser and sign in. Cancellation is web-only — the NordVPN desktop and mobile apps don't expose the auto-renewal control, and Reddit is full of users who thought they had cancelled in the app and got charged anyway.
In the left sidebar, click Billing. On the Subscriptions tab you'll see a card titled "Included in your plan" showing every Nord product on your subscription (NordVPN, NordPass, NordLocker, or bundles), Auto-renewal: ON with a Cancel link, the renewal date, and your saved payment method.
Inside the card, next to "Auto-renewal ON," click the Cancel link. Nord Account swaps the card for a blue-header info panel titled "What will happen if you cancel auto-renewal?" listing what expires and when.
The info panel lists three bullets: your subscription will no longer renew and will expire on the shown date, you'll lose access to every product in the bundle when it expires, and you'll need a new subscription to continue. Click the outlined Cancel auto-renewal button on the right. The blue Keep auto-renewal link next to it is the save offer — ignore it.
You're returned to the Subscriptions card. Auto-renewal now reads OFF with a red warning triangle, the "Renews on" label has changed to "Expires on" with the exact end-of-cycle date, and a black toast at the bottom of the screen reads "Auto-renewal canceled. You can turn it back on anytime to prevent disruption to your service."
Nord sends a confirmation email titled "You've cancelled auto-renewal" to the address on file. Save it — it's your independent record of the cancellation date, useful if a charge somehow lands after expiry and you need to dispute it with your bank.
The Nord Account Cancel link only appears if you paid NordVPN directly. If billing runs through an app store, cancel there instead: iPhone — Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions > NordVPN > Cancel Subscription. Google Play — play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions. Amazon Appstore — amazon.com/gp/mas/your-account/myapps > Subscriptions. Refund rules differ per store — Apple doesn't forward refunds to NordVPN at all, Amazon handles its own refunds, and Google Play refunds within 48 hours can be done at Google directly.
NordVPN's own FAQ (visible on this same billing page) states annual and 2-year subs are billed "up to 14 days before the subscription expiration date." Multiple readers set a calendar reminder for the expiry date shown in Nord Account, get charged two weeks earlier, and can't undo it — the 30-day money-back guarantee doesn't apply to renewals. Set the reminder for at least three weeks before your expiry date.
Turning off auto-renewal doesn't remove your saved payment method — Nord support has told users on r/nordvpn that "we are unable to delete only a portion of the data that is associated with your account, such as payments." The only way to strip the card is Nord Account > Account settings > Delete account, which is permanent and nukes NordPass and NordLocker along with it. Community-recommended alternatives: pay via PayPal or Amazon Pay (disable the recurring payment on their side), or a privacy.com virtual card with a $0 spending limit that will simply decline any future charge.
The 30-day money-back guarantee only covers your initial purchase — renewals are explicitly excluded. To request a refund: click Chat with support at the bottom of any support.nordvpn.com article; support emails you a link that opens a self-service refund panel in Nord Account where eligible payments show a Refund button. Processing takes up to 4 hours to submit and up to 10 business days to reach your bank. Apple App Store subscriptions are ineligible entirely — go through Apple directly. EU and UK subscribers additionally have a 14-day statutory right of withdrawal on new subscriptions.
RecurDash keeps track of what you're paying for and emails you before each renewal — so the next cancellation happens on your schedule, not after the charge. No bank login required.
