A 12-step walkthrough with real screenshots from the live cancel flow.
Cancel where you originally paid. Website (Paddle/Stripe): in the Speak app go Profile → Settings → Manage Membership → Cancel Subscription, then tap Yes on the confirm dialog and Continue through the reason survey. Apple or Google billed? Cancel in the App Store or Google Play instead. You keep access until the current period ends — canceling does not refund that period.
The next renewal is the one you won't. RecurDash keeps the list and emails you before each charge lands.
No bank login.

See Speak's pricing, tiers, and difficulty score in one page. Speak ranks #53 of 235 by cancellation difficulty.
Check a recent bank statement, an App Store receipt, a Google Play receipt, or a Paddle/Stripe email before you start. Website purchases cancel inside the Speak app under Manage Membership. Apple and Google subscriptions do not — you cancel those in the App Store or Play Store, even if you open the Speak app every day.
Sign in with the account you paid with, tap Profile, tap Settings (gear icon), then tap Manage Membership. This is the same hub Speak uses for membership status, and it is where the cancel row lives for website-billed subscriptions. Store-billed users should skip ahead to the Apple or Google optional steps.
On the Manage Membership screen you will see three action rows below your membership card: See All Subscriptions, Get Subscription History, and Cancel Subscription (red icon). Tap Cancel Subscription. Speak is turning off auto-renewal here — you are not deleting the account, and you are not filing a refund yet.
Speak triggers a native iOS confirmation sheet: "Are you sure you want to cancel your subscription?" with Yes (red) and No (blue) buttons. Tap Yes. The red-coloured Yes is the destructive-but-correct choice — the blue No is the default that keeps auto-renewal on.
Speak shows a "Why are you canceling?" survey with five pre-set options: Not enough content, Too expensive, I like it, but just not using it, Glitches/unreliability, and Speech recognition issues. Picking one is optional — you can leave everything blank if you just want out.
If your reason is not in the list, type a short note in the "Please let us know anything else here." textarea. Then tap Continue to finish the cancellation. The reason and feedback are both optional; the Continue tap is what commits the cancel — do not navigate back or force-quit before tapping it.
Return to Manage Membership (Profile → Settings → Manage Membership) and confirm the subscription now shows it will expire without renewing. You keep full paid access until that date. Canceling only blocks the next renewal; it does not claw back a charge that already posted.
Cancel stops future bills; refund is a different path. Google Play or website purchases: Speak's refund policy offers a full refund within 7 days of purchase, and no refunds after 30 days from the payment date. Inside 7 days on Paddle, use paddle.net → Look up my purchase → Get help → Refund and cancel subscription. Stripe/Link or older purchases: email support@speak.com. Apple purchases must go through Apple — Speak cannot refund App Store charges.
Speak's 7-day free trial converts to a paid plan unless you cancel at least one day before the trial ends. Use the same Manage Membership → Cancel Subscription path shown above, or cancel in the App Store / Google Play if the trial started through a store. After a clean cancel, you keep trial features for the rest of the seven days and are not charged at conversion.
Cancel in iOS, not only inside Speak. Open Settings → tap your Apple ID → Subscriptions → Speak → Cancel Subscription. If you switched from iPhone to Android, manage the same Apple subscription at Apple's subscription support page. Speak cannot cancel App Store billing for you.
Open the Google Play Store → profile icon → Payments & Subscriptions → Subscriptions → Speak → Cancel Subscription. If you moved from Android to iPhone, cancel at play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions while signed into the Google account that purchased Speak. If Cancel does not appear in Play, use Google Play's Help Center — Speak cannot force a Play cancel from their side.
Account deletion (Profile → Settings → Account Management → Delete Account) is permanent and cannot be restored. Speak's help center is explicit that deletion does not automatically cancel or refund your subscription — store-billed plans especially will keep renewing. Cancel the membership first; only delete the account if you truly want the learning profile gone.
RecurDash keeps track of what you're paying for and emails you before each renewal — so the next cancellation happens on your schedule, not after the charge. No bank login required.
