Quick answer

On the web: sign in at brilliant.org, open Account → Premium, click Manage subscription, then Cancel subscription in the modal, pick a reason, click Continue, and confirm with Confirm cancellation. You keep Premium until the end of the current billing period — Brilliant does not refund partially used periods. If you subscribed in the iOS or Android app, cancel through Apple or Google instead.

Step-by-step instructions

1

Sign in and open Account → Premium

Cancellation must happen on whichever platform you originally subscribed through. If you signed up in the iOS or Android app, jump to the optional steps at the bottom — the web cancel won't work for you. If you subscribed on the web, sign in at brilliant.org, open the menu, choose Account, then select the Premium tab. The top of the page confirms "You're learning on Premium" with your plan benefits below.

Scroll to Manage subscription and click the Manage subscription link

Scroll down the Premium tab to the Manage subscription section. It shows your Current plan (for example, "Annual Premium Plan"), your Next billing date and amount, and your payment information. Click the Manage subscription link on the right, next to the current plan.

3

Click Cancel subscription in the Manage Your Plan modal

A "Manage Your Plan" modal opens showing your current plan and the price that will recur (for example, the annual plan billed as one yearly payment). Below the plan card there's a small Cancel subscription text link and a large Got it button. Click the smaller Cancel subscription link — Got it just closes the modal without canceling.

Pick a reason in the "Why are you canceling Premium?" survey

Brilliant asks "Why are you canceling Premium?" with seven options: "I'm not getting enough value for the price", "I don't use Brilliant anymore", "I subscribed by accident", "I'm not finding relevant content", "I wanted to try Premium temporarily", "I had technical issues with Premium", and "Other". Selecting a reason is required — the Continue button stays grayed out until you pick one.

5

Click Continue

Once you select a reason the row highlights and the Continue button turns dark and active. Click Continue to move to the final confirmation. If you picked "Other", a short text box may appear — filling it in is optional.

6

Confirm with Confirm cancellation

A final retention screen reads "If you cancel, you'll have limited content and see ads" with a large gradient Keep Premium button and a smaller red Confirm cancellation link below it. Click the Confirm cancellation link — the prominent Keep Premium button cancels nothing and keeps you subscribed.

Verify the plan shows CANCELLED

You return to the Manage subscription section, where your Current plan should now show a red CANCELLED badge and the line "Your subscription has been cancelled. You will have access to Premium until [date]." A Keep my subscription link appears if you change your mind. If the CANCELLED badge does not appear, the cancel did not register — repeat the flow or contact support@brilliant.org.

If this applies to you

If you subscribed through the Apple App Store (iOS)

Brilliant's own website cannot cancel an App Store subscription. On your iPhone or iPad: open Settings → tap your name at the top → Subscriptions → Brilliant → Cancel Subscription, then confirm. Refunds for App Store purchases must be requested through Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com), not Brilliant.

If this applies to you

If you subscribed through Google Play (Android)

For Play Store subscriptions, cancel in Google Play: open the Play Store → tap your profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Brilliant → Cancel subscription, then confirm. Refunds must be requested through Google Play, not Brilliant. After canceling, you keep Premium until the end of the period you already paid for.

Frequently Asked Questions

No — once the cancellation registers, Brilliant stops future charges and you keep Premium access until the end of your current billing period. The most common gotcha is app-billed subscriptions: if you subscribed through Apple or Google, the Brilliant website can't cancel anything, and you'll keep getting billed until you cancel in the App Store or Google Play directly. After canceling on the web, check that your plan shows the CANCELLED badge before closing the page.

Usually not as a standard right. Brilliant's policy states it does not offer refunds per its Terms of Use, and there are no refunds or credits for partially used subscription periods — any refund is voluntary and at Brilliant's sole discretion. If your purchase qualifies, a self-serve "Cancel and Refund" option appears in Subscription Settings; choosing it ends the subscription and refunds your last charge. If you don't see that option, email support@brilliant.org to ask about eligibility. App Store and Google Play purchases must be refunded through Apple or Google, not Brilliant.

Your account and learning history stay — you simply drop back to the free experience when your paid access ends. On the free tier you lose unlimited daily learning, full course access, the ad-free experience, personalized practice, and the ability to jump ahead in any course. The retention screen spells this out: "If you cancel, you'll have limited content and see ads." Your account itself, and the courses you can still access for free, remain available.

You must cancel where the billing lives. On iPhone or iPad: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Brilliant → Cancel Subscription. On Android: open Google Play → tap your profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Brilliant → Cancel subscription. Brilliant's website will not show a working cancel option for app-billed subscriptions. After canceling, the App Store or Play Store sends a confirmation; if you don't get one, the cancel did not go through.

Yes. Cancel before the trial end date and you won't be charged — you keep Premium for the rest of the trial. Brilliant sends a reminder email 2 days before the trial ends, but don't rely on it alone: cancel as soon as you decide you don't want to keep Premium. The Manage subscription section shows your exact trial-end and next-charge date so you know the deadline.

Yes. While you still have access (before your end date), the Manage subscription section shows a Keep my subscription link that reverses the cancellation. After your access expires, just sign back in and resubscribe from the Premium page. Worth checking the price before you do — Brilliant's pricing is shown only on its subscribe page and varies by region and plan, so compare the annual and monthly options first.
