Quick answer

Finch Plus bills through Apple or Google, not Finch itself. In the app, go to SettingsManage your subscriptionCancel Subscription, tap Proceed with cancellation on the "Are you sure?" screen, then finish the cancellation in your device's subscription settings (official instructions). Your birb and all progress stay — you keep Plus until the end of the current billing cycle.

Step-by-step instructions

1

Open Settings and tap Manage your subscription

In the Finch app, tap the menu icon in the top-left corner of the home screen, then open Settings. Under the SUBSCRIPTION section you'll see "Finch Plus — Active" and a "Manage your subscription" row. Tap it.

Tap Cancel Subscription in the subscription sheet

A "Your Finch Plus Subscription" sheet slides up showing your current plan or trial and its end date. Tap the "Cancel Subscription" link at the bottom of the sheet.

Skip the "Are you sure?" screen — tap Proceed with cancellation

Finch shows a full-screen "Are you sure?" page — "Don't lose all of the wonderful perks you've got with plus!" — listing perks like 150+ extra exercises and Daily deals, with a big white "Keep Plus!" button. The cancel path is the small "Proceed with cancellation" text link underneath. Tap that.

Finish the cancellation in your device's subscription settings

The in-app flow hands you off to your app store, because Apple or Google controls the billing — Finch can't cancel it for you. On iPhone, confirm in the Apple subscriptions sheet that opens, or go to Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Finch → Cancel Subscription. Per Finch's help center: "You can cancel Finch Plus anytime through your device settings."

5

Verify the cancellation and note your end date

Open Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions (iOS) and confirm Finch shows an expiry date instead of a renewal date. Finch's policy: "Canceling ends your Plus features at the end of the current billing cycle" — you keep Plus until the original expiry date, then drop to the free app.

If you subscribed on Android

Open the Google Play Store, tap your profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions, select Finch, and cancel. If Finch doesn't appear in your Play subscriptions (a real r/finch complaint), check you're signed into the same Google account that started the trial — and if it's still missing, email support@befinch.com before the renewal date.

If your Plus came as a gift or through Wellhub

A gifted year of Finch Plus (bought via Finch's Stripe gift page) is a one-time purchase — it does not auto-renew, so there's nothing to cancel. Wellhub-provided Plus is managed by your Wellhub membership, not an app-store subscription. One trap from Finch's own Wellhub FAQ: if you're switching from a paid subscription to Wellhub access, "you must cancel your existing subscription through your app store to avoid duplicate charges."

On a free trial? Check which trial you have

Finch runs two different trials, per its FAQ: the 3-Day Free Plus Trial "ends automatically, no subscription" — nothing to cancel — while the 7-Day Free Trial "turns into a subscription unless manually canceled." If you're on the 7-day one, cancel now using the steps above; you keep Plus for the rest of the trial anyway. Finch also warns a charge can land early if a trial was already used on your account before — their support will help refund that.

Frequently Asked Questions

No — once the cancellation registers with Apple or Google, billing stops. Finch's help center confirms "Canceling ends your Plus features at the end of the current billing cycle," so you keep Plus until the original expiry date. The gotcha is stopping one step early: tapping "Proceed with cancellation" in the app isn't the end — the subscription is only canceled once your device's subscription settings show an expiry date instead of a renewal date. Check there after you finish.

Refunds go through the store, not Finch — the official FAQ says "Refunds are handled directly by the App Store or Google Play. You can request one through your device's purchase history." In practice Apple often refunds accidental or trial-conversion charges quickly (r/finch users report same-week refunds), but there's no proration: one user who meant to buy monthly was told by Apple that an 8-day-old yearly charge wasn't eligible. For accidental subscriptions, Finch's team also helps directly at support@befinch.com. EU and UK users have a 14-day right of withdrawal on new subscriptions under consumer law.

Your birb, journey progress, and history all stay — canceling only removes the Plus perks (the 150+ extra exercises, daily deals, and Plus customizations) and drops you to the free app. One caution that has nothing to do with billing: Finch data is stored locally unless you've created a Finch account, so use the "Your data" section in Settings to back up your save file — losing your phone loses your birb, subscription or not.

No. Finch sells subscriptions only through the Apple App Store and Google Play — "Subscriptions are managed through Apple or Google Play depending on your device" — so there's no website login where you can cancel, and no card-on-file with Finch to remove. The only web purchase Finch offers is the one-time 1-year gift (sold via a Stripe checkout, $69.99), which doesn't auto-renew and never needs canceling.

Yes, and if you're on the 7-day trial you should cancel as soon as you decide against it — it "turns into a subscription unless manually canceled," and you keep Plus for the remainder of the trial after canceling. The 3-day Plus trial ends automatically with no subscription. Don't cut it close: the most-upvoted billing thread on r/finch is a user charged the yearly price a day before their trial's printed end date. Finch grants one trial per account, and warns that reusing a trial can trigger an immediate charge — their support will refund that if it happens.

Resubscribing works anytime through the blue Finch Plus banner in the app menu, and if an active subscription ever stops showing, Settings → "Restore Finch Plus Purchase" re-syncs it with your app store. If price was the reason you canceled, Finch has two official free routes: the monthly Guardian raffles (Settings → Become a Guardian → Enter Raffle) give away free Plus subscriptions — Finch says winners with affordability issues may get free or heavily discounted Plus — and if your employer offers Wellhub, Finch Plus may be included at no extra cost.
