Quick answer

This cancels Stake Black membership on hellostake.com — not your brokerage account, and not stake.com. In the Stake app or on web: AccountStake BlackManage Your Membership → red Downgrade from Stake Black, then skip Not now, pick a reason, and tap Downgrade. Official steps: Stake Black cancellation. No cancel fee; paid Black access runs to the end of the billing cycle you already paid for.

Stake was the one you remembered

The next renewal is the one you won't. RecurDash keeps the list and emails you before each charge lands.

Step-by-step instructions

1

Confirm you are leaving Stake Black, not Stake

Stake Black is the optional paid membership (research tools, Instant Buying Power, ratings, full financials). Downgrading drops you to the free standard Stake brokerage — your holdings, cash, and login stay. If you meant stake.com (crypto casino), you are on the wrong guide.

2

Open Account, then Stake Black

Sign in to Stake on iOS, Android, or web. Open Account, then Stake Black. From there open Manage Your Membership (the app labels the screen Manage membership). Stake documents the same path for app and web.

3

Tap Downgrade from Stake Black

On Manage membership you will see Payment method, Change to yearly billing, Stake Black receipts, and Terms and conditions. Scroll to the red text link Downgrade from Stake Black and tap it.

4

Skip Not now on the Are you sure? sheet

A sheet asks Are you sure? and states you keep advanced features only until your billing-cycle end date. The filled button is Not now. Tap the plain Downgrade text underneath it to continue.

Stake Are you sure confirmation sheet over Manage membership stating advanced features last until 9 February 2026, with a large black Not now button above a plain Downgrade text button; payment method shows Apple Pay
5

Pick a reason on Sorry to see you go

Stake shows Sorry to see you go and asks why you are cancelling Stake Black. Choose one radio option (too expensive, did not know you had it, technical problems, do not use the features, no longer use Stake, or Another reason). The pink Downgrade button stays inactive until a reason is selected.

Stake Sorry to see you go survey listing six cancellation reasons with empty radio buttons, a faded pink Downgrade button, and a Cancel text link below
6

Tap Downgrade to finish

After you select a reason, the pink Downgrade button enables. Tap it. The Cancel link under the button aborts the flow and keeps Black active — do not use Cancel if you mean to leave.

Stake Sorry to see you go survey with I don't use the features selected, an enabled pink Downgrade button, and a Cancel link underneath
7

Verify Cancelled and write down the end date

You land on the Stake Black screen with a grey Cancelled badge. It lists what you are losing (for Wall St Black: Instant Buying Power, Buy/Sell Ratings, Full Financials, Price Targets) and the line Your membership will end on a specific date. Keep Black features until that date, then the account reverts to standard Stake.

If this applies to you

If you are on a Stake Black free trial

Cancel before the one-month trial ends to avoid the first charge. Stake's free-trial terms say access to Black ends immediately when you cancel a trial — unlike a paid membership, which runs to the period end. Same path: Manage membership → Downgrade from Stake Black.

9
If this applies to you

If you have more than one Stake account

Black is sold per account, not per login. An individual account and a Company, Trust, or SMSF account each need their own Stake Black membership and their own downgrade. Cancelling on one does not stop billing on the others.

10
If this applies to you

If you actually want to close your Stake brokerage account

Downgrading Black only removes the membership. Closing the brokerage account is a separate support process: sell or transfer holdings, withdraw cash, then contact Stake. Do the Black downgrade first if you are still being billed for it.

If this applies to you

If you just started an annual membership and want money back

Stake's published windows: full refund within 7 days of an annual start; pro-rated refund for the remaining 11 months if you cancel within 30 days. Monthly plans only get a full refund within 24 hours of start. Outside those windows you keep access to period end with no refund. Stake also states you are only eligible for a Black fee refund once.

Frequently Asked Questions

No further Stake Black renewals once the downgrade is confirmed. You keep Black features until the end date shown on the Cancelled screen (the end of the billing cycle you already paid for). There is no cancellation fee. After that date the account stays open on free standard Stake.

Only inside Stake's published windows. Monthly: full refund if you cancel within 24 hours of the membership start. Annual: full refund within 7 days of start, or a pro-rated refund for the remaining 11 months if you cancel within 30 days. Outside those windows Stake does not refund the unused period — you keep access until the cycle ends instead. Stake also limits Black fee refunds to once per customer. Australian consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law may still apply for major failures; raise those through Stake support / AFCA if needed.

Nothing is sold or closed. You lose Stake Black tools (Instant Buying Power, ratings, full financials, price targets, and related Black data) on the membership end date. Your brokerage account, portfolio, and withdrawable cash remain. Instant Buying Power specifically means you can no longer reinvest unsettled sale proceeds the same way once Black ends.

No. Stake bills Black itself via card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay on the membership screen. That is not an Apple or Google Play subscription. Cancel inside Stake (Account → Stake Black → Manage membership → Downgrade from Stake Black). You will not find a separate Stake Black row under iOS Settings → Subscriptions for this product.

Yes — and you should before the trial month ends if you do not want to be charged. Cancel through the same Downgrade from Stake Black path. Trial cancel stops Black access immediately and avoids the first charge. If you do nothing, Stake auto-charges the plan and billing frequency you picked when you started the trial.

Yes. Stake says you can reactivate at any time — the Cancelled screen includes a Reactivate button, and you can buy Black again from Account → Stake Black. Restarting uses the current fee schedule (for example Wall St or AUS membership versus both markets, monthly or yearly). A prior free trial does not grant a second trial on the same account or payment details.
