Quick answer

Ahead bills through the Apple App Store, Google Play, or Stripe (web). On iPhone, open the Ahead app → SettingsManage subscriptionChange plan, then tap the faint Cancel subscription link (not the purple Keep/Switch button) and finish in Apple Settings → Subscriptions → Ahead → Cancel Subscription. Or skip the in-app maze: Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Web buyers: tap Manage subscription in the Your Ahead Subscription email. Official steps: ahead-app.com/ahead-faq. You keep premium until the period ends — Ahead does not prorate refunds.

Ahead was the one you remembered

The next renewal is the one you won't. RecurDash keeps the list and emails you before each charge lands.

Step-by-step instructions

1

Confirm which platform bills you

Search your bank or email for Ahead charges. Apple receipts, Google Play order emails, and Stripe messages titled "Your Ahead Subscription" point to different cancel paths. Canceling in the Ahead app alone does not stop a store subscription — you must cancel on the platform that renews you.

2

Open Settings in the Ahead app

Open Ahead and go to Profile → Settings (or open Settings from the app menu). You will see a list that includes Notifications, Manage account, and Manage subscription.

3

Tap Manage subscription

On Manage subscription, Ahead shows your Current Plan card (plan name and next billing date) and a purple Change plan link. There is no Cancel button on this screen — cancel is one step deeper.

4

Tap Change plan — cancel is hidden here

Change plan lists Monthly, 3 months, Yearly, and Lifetime options. The large purple button says Keep my … plan (or Switch to … if you select another tier). Scroll to the bottom and tap the faint grey Cancel subscription link.

5

Do not Subscribe when you meant to cancel

If you select Yearly (or another tier) and tap the purple Switch button, Apple opens an App Store Subscribe sheet for the new plan. That upgrades or renews billing — it does not cancel. Dismiss the sheet with X and tap Cancel subscription instead.

Finish Cancel Subscription in Apple Settings

After Cancel subscription, complete the cancel on Apple's side: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Ahead → Cancel Subscription (you may need to scroll). Ahead's FAQ uses this same Apple path as the official iOS cancel. Take a screenshot of the end date — premium stays until then; the next renewal should stop.

Skip the app maze: cancel from Apple Settings directly

You do not need the Ahead app at all for an App Store subscription. Open the iPhone Settings app → your name → Subscriptions → Ahead → Cancel Subscription. On a computer with the same Apple Account, use apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Both stop the same IAP renewal.

If you bought on ahead-app.com (Stripe)

Find the email titled Your Ahead Subscription (check spam) and tap Manage subscription to open the Stripe customer portal. Ahead's terms also list ahead-app.com/account for signed-in web cancels. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current web billing period.

If you signed up through Google Play

Open the Play Store → profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Ahead → Cancel subscription. Ahead cannot process Play refunds — use Google's order history if you need a refund request after a charge.

Email hi@ahead-app.com if the store list is empty

Ahead's terms say you may cancel by emailing hi@ahead-app.com and that they process those requests within 2 business days. Use this when the subscription is missing from Apple/Google and the Stripe manage email never arrived. Ask for written confirmation of the end date before the next renewal.

Family plan: only the purchaser cancels

Ahead's Family plan shares through Apple Family Sharing (Profile → Settings → Manage Subscription on a Family SKU). Only the Apple ID that bought the plan can cancel it under Subscriptions. Members who only received shared access cannot stop the purchaser's bill.

Cancel during the free trial before the 24-hour cutoff

Ahead offers a one-time 7-day free trial on the App Store path. FAQ and Apple rules: cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends or it can convert to a paid period (often an annual SKU). Uninstalling the app does not cancel.

Frequently Asked Questions

No further renewals once you cancel on the platform that bills you at least 24 hours before the period ends. Ahead's terms say cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period and you keep premium until that date. There are no prorated refunds for unused days.

Ahead does not refund completed periods for web/Stripe purchases once digital content is delivered, aside from courtesy exceptions and mandatory law. For App Store or Google Play purchases, Ahead says it cannot process refunds — request one from Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com) or Google Play order history. EU/UK consumers may have a 14-day withdrawal right unless they consented to immediate digital delivery and waived that right at checkout. California automatic-renewal rules may apply if Ahead failed required disclosures.

Canceling the subscription turns your account into a free account at the end of the paid period — it does not automatically delete the account. Ahead is not therapy; journey progress and reflections stay with the account unless you delete it from app Settings or by emailing hi@ahead-app.com. Daily AI chat allowances are subscription features; separate messaging-pack purchases are consumables and are not the same as canceling Pro.

Cancel in that store. Apple: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Ahead → Cancel Subscription (or the in-app Manage subscription → Change plan → Cancel subscription handoff). Google Play: Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Ahead → Cancel subscription. Ahead's website cancel/Stripe portal will not stop an App Store or Play bill.

Yes. Use the same Apple, Google, or Stripe path for your signup channel. Ahead's FAQ stresses that Apple trials must be canceled 24 hours before the trial ends. If the trial converts, Ahead cannot reverse an App Store charge — only Apple's refund process can.

Yes. After the paid period ends you remain on a free account and can subscribe again from the app or website. Returning prices may differ from your old plan — Ahead runs multiple App Store offer SKUs and promotional pricing. Family Sharing access ends when the purchaser's Family subscription period ends.
