Sign in at chatgpt.com, click your profile icon > Settings > Subscription
Click "Cancel plan" or "Manage my subscription" (may open Stripe billing portal)
Confirm the cancellation - you retain Plus access until the end of the billing period
All conversation history is preserved and accessible on the free tier after cancellation
You lose access to GPT-4o (full speed), GPT-4, and other premium models - falls back to free tier with limited access
Custom GPTs you created remain but you cannot create new ones or use advanced features
OpenAI does not offer a pause option or prorated refunds
If subscribed through the iOS or Android app, cancel through Apple/Google subscription settings instead
