How to Cancel GitHub Copilot
Cancellation Steps
Go to github.com/settings/copilot (or Settings > Copilot)
Under your Copilot plan, click "Cancel" or "Manage subscription"
Select a reason and confirm cancellation
You fall back to Copilot Free: 50 premium requests/month, 50 IDE chat messages/month, basic models only
Copilot Free has no coding agent access and limited model selection (no Claude, limited Gemini)
Access continues until end of billing cycle - IDE extensions and settings persist after cancellation
Organization plans: admins manage Copilot access through organization settings, not individual users
A prorated refund is issued when a personal plan is superseded by an organizational assignment
