Open the Copilot profile menu

Go to copilot.microsoft.com in any browser and sign in with the Microsoft account that pays for Copilot Pro. Click your avatar in the top-right corner to open the side panel — you'll see your name with a PRO badge, Voice/Language/Theme settings, and a Manage subscription row.

Click Manage subscription, then Cancel subscription

On the Microsoft account page, click Cancel subscription

You land on the Microsoft Copilot Pro card at account.microsoft.com/services. Scroll to the bottom — three rows sit under the payment details: Billing history, Turn off recurring billing, and Cancel subscription. Click Cancel subscription (the last row).

Confirm the cancellation in the modal

A dialog asks "Are you sure you want to cancel?" and tells you how many days of Copilot Pro you have left and the exact date access ends. Click the blue Cancel subscription button on the left. The right-side Keep subscription button is the retention default — don't hit it by reflex.

Verify the goodbye screen

You're returned to the Subscriptions area with a header reading "You successfully cancelled your Microsoft Copilot Pro subscription" and the exact date your access ends. Until that date, Copilot Pro features still work. After it, your account drops to free Copilot — there's no further action needed.

If you signed up through the Apple App Store or Google Play

Microsoft's account page won't show a Cancel subscription button if a third party handles your billing. Cancel through Apple (Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions, or reportaproblem.apple.com) or Google Play (play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions). Microsoft's own support article tells you to contact those stores for cancellation or refund.

If Copilot is bundled into your Microsoft 365 Personal or Family subscription (the M365 + Copilot tier), the Cancel subscription button sits on the Microsoft 365 card, not on a separate Copilot Pro card — canceling there ends both Office and Copilot together. Subscriptions purchased in Germany can be cancelled without signing in via aka.ms/germancancel; a few personal details are enough.

No. Once you confirm in the "Are you sure you want to cancel?" modal, Microsoft stops billing your card. The success screen and your account page both show the exact date Copilot Pro access ends — that's the last day of the period you've already paid for, and there are no further charges after it.

In most countries, no — Microsoft's default policy is that you keep Copilot Pro until the period ends and don't get money back. Six countries offer prorated refunds on all subscription lengths if you cancel within the refund window: Canada, Denmark, France, Israel, Korea, and Turkey. Five more — Finland, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal — give prorated refunds only on renewals of longer-than-monthly subscriptions. The refund is triggered by Cancel subscription, not by Turn off recurring billing, and is paid back to the original payment method.

On the end date, Copilot features in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote stop working on your account — those require an active Pro subscription on top of Microsoft 365. The 100 daily Designer/image-generation boosts revert to the free Copilot allowance, and priority access to the latest GPT model during peak hours goes away. Standard, free Copilot chat on copilot.microsoft.com keeps working with normal rate limits.

Microsoft can't cancel a subscription that another platform bills. On iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, find Microsoft Copilot Pro, and tap Cancel Subscription — or request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. On Android, open play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions, find Copilot Pro, and tap Cancel. After cancelling there, Pro continues until the end of the period you already paid for.

Both stop you from being charged again and both leave Copilot Pro working until the end of the current period. The difference matters in countries with prorated refunds (Canada, Denmark, France, Israel, Korea, Turkey): only Cancel subscription within the refund window triggers a partial refund. Turn off recurring billing keeps the subscription "active until expiry" and skips that refund path. Outside those countries the end result is identical, so the simpler Cancel subscription flow is the right choice.

Yes. While the subscription is still in its run-out period, the goodbye screen shows a Turn on recurring billing button that reverses the cancellation with one click.
