A 12-step walkthrough.
Sign in at app.clay.com as a workspace admin, click your profile picture, then Settings → Plans & billing → Switch plan, and move the workspace to the Free plan. You keep your paid features until the next payment date, then the workspace drops to Free. Clay's fees are non-refundable, so do it before renewal, and switch off automatic top-ups under Settings → Usage first.
The next renewal is the one you won't. RecurDash keeps the list and emails you before each charge lands.

See Clay's pricing, tiers, and difficulty score in one page. Clay ranks #248 of 256 by cancellation difficulty.
Sign in at app.clay.com. Only workspace admins can reach billing: Clay's role docs say editors can't modify billing settings or purchase credits. If you're an editor, ask an admin to cancel or to change your role under Settings → Team. The plan belongs to the workspace rather than to you, so if you have more than one workspace, check each one.
Click your profile picture in the top-right corner and select Settings, then click Plans & billing in the left sidebar. This is where the Switch plan, Update credit card, and Update email buttons live, and Clay shows your renewal timestamp in your billing details. Note that date: you have until then to cancel without paying for another cycle.
Click Switch plan (one of Clay's own help pages calls the same button Change plan, so look for either), pick the Free plan, and confirm the change. Clay's FAQ says the option to cancel lives in this Billing section, and the result is the same: you keep your plan's features until the next payment due date, and then the workspace moves to the free plan.
Reopen Settings → Plans & billing and make sure the change to Free registered. If it didn't, email support before your payment date (see the optional step below). Until that date you keep your plan's features and can spend the data credits left in your balance. After it, Clay stops billing the plan and the Free plan's limits apply: 500 actions and 100 data credits a month, and tables that run up to 200 rows.
Clay's docs treat a downgrade to Free and a full cancellation differently. A downgrade keeps your tables, workflows, and configurations intact. After a full cancellation the workspace goes to Free "temporarily", and long-term retention "isn't guaranteed after extended inactivity". If you see both options, pick the downgrade to Free unless you want the data gone.
Clay's terms let you cancel "by emailing" support or "in your Clay account". If the plan page won't let you switch to Free, email support@clay.com from the workspace's billing address. Name the workspace, say you want the subscription canceled at the end of the current period, and keep the reply as proof.
Once the billing cycle you have paid for ends, Clay cuts your data credit balance down to the Free plan's rollover limit, and Free only includes 100 data credits a month. Any enrichment you still want, run it before then. Then export the tables you care about to CSV: Clay says a CSV export uses no actions and no data credits. Credits earned through Clay's referral program are the exception: Clay says they aren't subject to the usual rollover rules and stay in your account until you use them.
Go to Settings → Usage and switch off automatic top-ups. They buy data credits and charge the card on file whenever your balance falls to the threshold you picked, at a 30% premium over plan credits (50% on legacy plans). Clay caps them at $1,000 per top-up and $5,000 in any rolling 7-day window, and a table still running enrichments can set them off while your paid plan runs out.
Sending domains and inboxes bought through Clay's Sequencer bill in data credits on their own schedule: domains yearly, email accounts monthly. Clay doesn't give partial refunds on a domain cancelled before its year is up. Review them in Campaigns → Email Accounts. Also check Settings → Connections: enrichments that run through your own OpenAI, Anthropic, or data-provider keys are billed by those providers, not by Clay, so turn off Auto-Update on tables you no longer need.
Clay replaced its old plans in March 2026. Its legacy-plans doc says that after April 10, 2026 "any plan change forces migration to modern plans. Legacy customers cannot switch between legacy plans or return to legacy plans once they leave." If you cancel a legacy plan and come back later, you'll pay Launch or Growth pricing, and Growth is $495 a month before you get the HTTP API or CRM sync.
Clay's terms say a paid subscription continues for the length of your contract and then renews automatically, and that fees are non-refundable. So canceling an annual plan stops the renewal rather than refunding the months left. Annual plans only roll over 15% of unused data credits, and only when you renew on the same plan or a bigger one. Enterprise customers have a dedicated Growth Strategist: tell them and support in writing well before the renewal date.
Deleting is not the same as canceling. Settings → Workspace settings → Delete workspace permanently removes every table, workflow, and configuration, and only works when you are the only member and there are no pending invites. Settings → Account → Delete account needs you to be the only member or a non-admin in every workspace. Both are permanent. Clay says both also delete the Stripe customer record "to prevent unexpected charges".
RecurDash keeps track of what you're paying for and emails you before each renewal — so the next cancellation happens on your schedule, not after the charge. No bank login required.
