Step-by-step instructions

Know what you're canceling: domain plan vs add-on

Cloudflare bills website plans (Free, Pro, Business) per domain, and bills add-ons (Cache Reserve, Argo, Load Balancing, R2 Paid, and similar) as separate subscriptions. Canceling Pro on one domain does not stop add-ons or Pro on other domains. Only a Super Administrator can change a domain plan.

Open Manage Account → Billing

Sign in at dash.cloudflare.com, open Manage Account in the left sidebar, and click Billing. You land on Invoices and documents — that tab is for past invoices, not cancellation.

Open the Subscriptions tab

In the Billing sub-nav, click Subscriptions. You'll see every active plan and add-on with its renewal date, price, and Action column. Domain plans (Pro, Business) usually show Edit; add-ons usually show Cancel.

Click Cancel on the subscription you want to stop

For an add-on, click Cancel in its Action column. Cloudflare opens a cancel page titled for that product (for example, "Cancel Cloudflare Cache Reserve") with an access-until date and a required acknowledgment checkbox.

Acknowledge the end date and pick a reason

Check the box that you understand features will be disabled on the end date shown. Choose the strongest reason in the survey and answer whether you found an alternative. The survey is required to enable Confirm — it doesn't change the outcome.

Click Confirm

Click the red Confirm button (the gray Cancel button on this screen aborts and leaves the subscription active). You return to the Subscriptions list.

Verify the status says ENDING ON

On Subscriptions, the canceled row should flip from RENEWS ON to a red ENDING ON date. That date is the last day you keep paid features for that product — no further renewal charge after it. If it still says RENEWS ON, the cancel didn't stick; open Cancel again.

Domain Pro or Business: Edit or Change plan → Free

To stop a domain website plan, either click Edit on its Subscriptions row, or open the domain → Overview → Active Subscriptions → Change, choose Free, then Continue and Confirm. Downgrades take effect at period end — you keep Pro/Business features until then, with no prorated refund.

If you're not a Super Administrator

Only Super Administrators can change domain plans. If Edit or Change is missing or errors, ask an account Super Admin to run the downgrade — Members under Manage Account shows who has that role.

After a Pro→Free downgrade, trim Page Rules and add-ons

A Free plan allows fewer Page Rules. Extra rules or leftover paid extensions can still generate charges after the domain plan ends. Remove excess rules and Cancel each add-on subscription you no longer want on the Subscriptions tab.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not for the next period of that subscription, once cancel or downgrade is confirmed. You keep paid features until the ENDING ON / period-end date shown in the dashboard, then renewals stop. Cloudflare still bills usage-based products (Workers, R2 overage, Argo transfer, and similar) for consumption that already happened, and any other subscriptions you left active keep renewing.

Cloudflare's billing policy is that you pay for the full period in which you cancel and refunds are not issued for unused time — including accidental purchases and unused services. EU/UK consumer withdrawal rights can still apply within 14 days of a new subscription depending on your situation; that's a legal exception, not Cloudflare's standard self-serve refund path. Billing tickets sometimes end in goodwill credits, but that is discretionary and often slow.

Canceling or downgrading a paid plan does not delete your Cloudflare account or remove the domain from the dashboard. DNS records and the Free plan's proxy/CDN features typically keep working; you lose the paid-plan features (and any canceled add-ons) when the period ends. Removing a domain from Cloudflare or deleting the account is a separate action — and removing a domain still does not trigger a refund.

For domain website plans, Cloudflare often cancels by switching the domain to Free rather than a Cancel link. Use Edit on the Subscriptions row, or the domain Overview → Change plan flow, pick Free, and Confirm. Add-ons are the rows that usually show Cancel.

There is no standard free trial for Network & CDN Pro or Business — Free is the always-on entry tier, and paid plans start billing when you upgrade. If you upgraded by mistake, downgrade to Free immediately so you are not charged again at the next period; expect no mid-period cash refund under the standard policy.

Yes. Before the ENDING ON date you can reverse a pending downgrade from Billing if the UI still offers it; after the period ends, open the domain Overview → Change (or Subscriptions → Edit) and pick Pro or Business again. Upgrades take effect immediately and bill a prorated amount for the rest of the cycle. Your DNS and zone settings remain on the account unless you removed the domain.
