Quick answer

Sign in at app.monarchmoney.com/settings/billing, click Manage subscription, then the Cancel subscription link at the bottom of the Change Subscription modal. Pick a reason, click Continue, and confirm the access-until date. You keep Premium until that date — Monarch does not auto-bill again after a completed cancel.

Monarch was the one you remembered

The next renewal is the one you won't. RecurDash keeps the list and emails you before each charge lands.

Step-by-step instructions

1

Open Billing Settings on the web

Sign in at app.monarchmoney.com/settings/billing (web only — the mobile apps do not expose this cancel path). Under Household → Billing you'll see your current plan, payment method, and a Manage subscription link next to Current plan.

2

Click Manage subscription

That opens the Change Subscription modal. You'll see your current plan card (often marked CURRENT), any promo applied, and a large Subscribe button. Cancellation is not that button.

3

Click Cancel subscription

At the bottom of the Change Subscription modal, click the Cancel subscription text link. Monarch opens a Cancel subscription panel asking for feedback before you can continue.

4

Select a cancellation reason

Open the Reason dropdown, pick the closest match (for example "Missing key features I need"), then click Continue. Continue stays disabled until a reason is selected — you cannot skip this step.

5

Verify the Subscription canceled confirmation

After Continue, Monarch shows a Subscription canceled modal with the exact date you keep Premium access through. Click Done. That date is also what you should match against any confirmation email.

Double-check Billing Settings

Return to Settings → Billing and confirm the page no longer schedules a next charge for a canceled plan. If something looks wrong (still showing a renewal you did not expect), contact support from Help & Support before the next bill date.

If you signed up through Apple or Google Play

Web Billing will not control App Store or Play billing. On iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Monarch → Cancel Subscription. On Android: Google Play → profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Monarch. Monarch staff cannot cancel or refund Apple App Store subscriptions — those go through Apple. If Monarch is missing from the list, a family manager may own the subscription.

Want cash back? Use the money-back refund path

A normal cancel keeps Premium until the date shown and does not automatically refund unused time. For a remaining-time refund on web/direct billing, use Monarch's money-back request (Help Center → Money-back Guarantee, or app.monarchmoney.com/dashboard/refund-request). A processed refund cancels the sub and ends Premium access immediately. Apple App Store purchases are not eligible for Monarch-issued refunds.

Canceling does not delete your account

Your login, transactions, and history stay until you delete the account under Settings → Security → Delete Account. Download transaction or account history first if you need an export. Institution connections disconnect about 30 days after a subscription fully ends. Do not delete the account before a refund request finishes processing.

Frequently Asked Questions

No — once cancellation completes on the same billing channel that charges you, Monarch will not renew. You keep Premium until the access-until date shown on the confirmation modal. During a free trial, cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends to avoid the first charge; you still keep access for the rest of the trial.

For web/direct billing, Monarch's money-back guarantee says they will refund the remaining time on your subscription at any point after purchase, no questions asked — request it via their refund form rather than assuming cancel alone returns cash. When that refund posts, Premium access ends immediately. Apple App Store subscriptions must be refunded by Apple; Monarch cannot issue those refunds. EU/UK 14-day withdrawal rights may also apply depending on where you live.

Canceling stops renewals but does not wipe your data. You keep Premium features until the stated end date, then you can still log in to view historical data and reactivate later. About 30 days after the subscription fully ends, linked institution connections disconnect. Permanent deletion is a separate Security → Delete Account step — export anything you need first.

Cancel in the store that bills you. iPhone: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions. Google Play: play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions (or the Play app path). If you subscribed on the website, cancel at app.monarchmoney.com/settings/billing instead — App Store Subscriptions will not list a web/Stripe plan, and canceling nothing in Apple will not stop that charge.

Yes. Use the same Billing → Manage subscription → Cancel subscription flow on the web. Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends to avoid being billed. You keep access for the remainder of the trial either way. If you already got charged after a failed cancel attempt, use the money-back refund path (web) or Apple/Google refund tools (app-store billing).

Yes. Sign back in and start a subscription again from Billing Settings. Your historical data remains on the account unless you deleted it. Current consumer pricing is Core at $14.99/month or $99.99/year, and Plus at $199.99/year (annual-only) — check monarch.com/pricing for the live figures and any returning-customer offers.
