A 11-step walkthrough with real screenshots from the live cancel flow.
Sign in at contra.com/settings/subscription, click Manage subscription, choose Cancel subscription, then confirm with Continue canceling. You keep Contra Pro until the end of the paid term — annual and monthly plans are nonrefundable.
The next renewal is the one you won't. RecurDash keeps the list and emails you before each charge lands.
No bank login.
Wondering if you're paying more than you used to? the price you used to pay vs the price you pay now.
See Contra's pricing, tiers, and difficulty score in one page. Contra ranks #133 of 235 by cancellation difficulty.
Open Contra in a browser and sign in to the Independent account that pays for Pro. Cancellation is self-serve on the website under Settings → Subscription — not by ending a client project, and not by deleting the app or closing a tab.
Go to contra.com/settings/subscription (or open Settings from your account menu and click Subscription). You should see your Contra PRO card with a CURRENT PLAN badge, the price, and the next renew date.
On the Contra PRO card, click Manage subscription. A small menu opens with Manage billing information and Cancel subscription.
Click Cancel subscription in that menu. Contra opens a confirmation modal titled "Are you sure you want to cancel?" with the date your Pro access ends if you proceed.
The modal lists Pro perks with red X marks — Job Network access, priority applications, waived platform fees for invited clients, branded invoices, AI portfolio, and premium templates. That list is a retention screen. Click the red Continue canceling button — not Return to settings.
After Continue canceling, return to Settings → Subscription and confirm auto-renew is off and the end date matches what the modal showed. Contra's terms say termination keeps access through the end of the paid term and stops renewal — cancel before that renew date if you want to avoid another charge.
You keep Pro features (priority applications, analytics, fee discounts, templates) through the period you already paid for. Use them while they last — Contra does not refund unused days on monthly or annual plans.
When the paid term ends, Settings → Subscription switches to the Free upgrade card with Upgrade to Pro. That is normal — your Independent profile remains; only Pro extras are gone until you subscribe again.
Canceling Pro is Manage subscription → Cancel subscription. Deleting the account is a different Settings path that ends with Permanently delete account and removes the profile. Use cancel if you only want to stop renewals.
Ending a client project (End project on that project) stops that engagement's workflow. It does not cancel Contra Pro billing. If the renew charge is what you want to stop, use Subscription → Cancel subscription.
The Subscription page also links to a subscription and billing management portal (Stripe-style) for payment updates. Prefer Cancel subscription in the Manage subscription menu so you see Contra's confirm modal and end date. If the in-app Cancel control is missing, use the portal or email hello@contra.com.
RecurDash keeps track of what you're paying for and emails you before each renewal — so the next cancellation happens on your schedule, not after the charge. No bank login required.
