Quick answer

Cancel on the same platform that bills you. On iPhone, open MyFitnessPal Subscription Status, tap Manage subscriptionCancel my subscription, pick a reason, tap CONTINUE, then confirm Cancel Subscription in Apple — or go straight to Settings → your name → Subscriptions. You keep Premium until the paid period ends; canceling does not refund the current cycle.

MyFitnessPal was the one you remembered

The next renewal is the one you won't. RecurDash keeps the list and emails you before each charge lands.

Step-by-step instructions

1

Confirm where MyFitnessPal bills you

Check a recent bank, App Store, or Google Play receipt before you start. Website purchases cancel under Settings → Subscription Settings on myfitnesspal.com. Apple and Google subscriptions do not — MyFitnessPal cannot turn those off for you. The Subscription Status screen even says “Manage subscription in Apple App Store” when Apple handles billing.

2

Open Subscription Status in the MyFitnessPal app

In the iOS app, open your Subscription Status screen. You should see an ACTIVE card with your plan (Premium or Premium+), the billing length, and the date it expires. Below the card is a blue Manage subscription control.

3

Tap Manage subscription

Tap Manage subscription. MyFitnessPal opens a Manage Subscription page with two rows: Learn more about Premium, and Cancel my subscription. The first is a retention detour — skip it.

4

Tap Cancel my subscription

Tap Cancel my subscription. MyFitnessPal takes you to a “We’re sorry to see you go” survey asking why you’d like to cancel. This is still inside MyFitnessPal — your Apple (or Google) bill has not stopped yet.

5

Pick a reason and tap CONTINUE

Choose any reason that fits — I’ve reached my goal, Subscription is expensive, The free version has everything I need, and similar options — then tap CONTINUE. Filling the survey is optional feedback; it does not change whether you can cancel. CONTINUE hands you off to Apple’s subscription controls for App Store purchases.

6

Confirm Cancel Subscription in Apple

On the Apple confirmation sheet, tap Cancel Subscription — not Keep Subscription. Official path if the sheet does not appear: open the iOS Settings app → your name → Subscriptions → MyFitnessPal → Cancel Subscription. MyFitnessPal’s support article is clear: Apple alone manages App Store cancellations and refunds.

7

Verify your access-until date

After Apple confirms, check Subscription Status (or Settings → Subscriptions) for an expiration date instead of a next billing date. You keep Premium features until that date — canceling turns off the next charge, it does not cut access immediately. Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal; MyFitnessPal warns that canceling inside that window may still renew.

If this applies to you

Or cancel straight from Apple Settings

You can skip MyFitnessPal’s survey entirely. Open Settings → your name → Subscriptions → MyFitnessPal → Cancel Subscription. The result is the same: access until the period ends, then Free.

If this applies to you

If you signed up through Google Play

Open the Play Store app → profile icon → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions → MyFitnessPal → Cancel Subscription. Website or Apple cancel paths will not stop a Play-billed renewal.

If this applies to you

If you subscribed on myfitnesspal.com

Log in at myfitnesspal.com with the same email and password as the app. Click Settings, then Subscription Settings, and set the Auto-Renewal toggle from On to Off. That opts you out of Premium at the end of the current billing cycle — the only cancel path MyFitnessPal controls directly.

Do not delete your account just to stop the bill

Canceling Premium leaves your free account and food diary intact. Deleting the account is a separate, permanent action (More → Help → Delete Account in the app, or Settings → Delete Account on the website) and does not reliably cancel App Store or Play subscriptions. Stop billing first. Eligible new users on a 7-day trial should cancel before the trial end date on the same platform that started it, or the first paid charge hits when the trial converts.

Frequently Asked Questions

No — once cancel is confirmed on the platform that bills you, the next renewal should not charge. You keep Premium (or Premium+) until the end of the period you already paid for. Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal; MyFitnessPal’s help center says a cancel inside that window may still renew. Double-check Apple or Google Subscriptions if that is where you paid — canceling only inside the app when the store bills you leaves auto-renew on.

Canceling stops future renewals; it is not automatically a refund. MyFitnessPal’s Terms say Premium purchases are final and non-refundable except at their sole discretion, and App Store / Play refunds are constrained by Apple and Google. For iOS purchases, request a refund through Apple (reportaproblem.apple.com or Apple Support) — MyFitnessPal cannot process those. Google Play purchases use Google’s refund flow. Residents of the EEA or UK may have a statutory 14-day withdrawal right on new sign-ups. Outside those paths you typically keep access until period end with no cash back.

Your account stays. When Premium ends you drop to the Free plan — ads return and Premium-only tools (advanced macros, Meal Planner on Premium+, ad-free logging shortcuts, and similar) stop, but your diary and history remain on the free account. Deleting the account is different and permanent; do not delete just to cancel billing.

Cancel in the store that charges you. iPhone: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → MyFitnessPal → Cancel Subscription (or finish the in-app Manage subscription → Cancel my subscription → CONTINUE flow, then confirm on Apple’s sheet). Android: Play Store → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions → MyFitnessPal → Cancel Subscription. MyFitnessPal’s website Auto-Renewal toggle only works for website purchases.

Yes. Eligible new Premium or Premium+ users get a 7-day free trial. Cancel before the trial end date using Settings, the App Store, or Google Play — whichever started the trial — so the first paid charge does not hit. After a clean cancel you should not be billed when the trial would have converted.

Yes. Sign back in and subscribe again from the app or myfitnesspal.com/premium at the current list rate (US: Premium about $19.99/month or $79.99/year; Premium+ about $24.99/month or $99.99/year). Your free account and diary stay; Premium features return when the new subscription activates. Returning users may not see a first-time 7-day trial again if they already redeemed one.
