How to Cancel Future

Quick answer

Cancel in the Future Pro app: Profile > gear icon > Your Account > Update Membership > Cancel Membership, then decline two save offers and finish the required survey. There is no web cancel page — you need the app. You keep access until the end of your billing cycle, and Future does not refund partial months.

Future was the one you remembered

The next renewal is the one you won't. RecurDash keeps the list and emails you before each charge lands.

Step-by-step instructions

1

Work out which refund you qualify for first

At $199/month this is worth 30 seconds before you tap anything. Still in your first month? Future refunds it in full, no questions asked — but only if you email help@future.co to ask. On a rolling monthly plan? You get no partial-month refund, so cancel just before the renewal date rather than just after it. On a prepaid 3-, 6-, or 12-month plan? See the optional step at the end — the maths is not in your favour.

2

Open the Future Pro app and go to Your Account

Cancellation is app-only — Future has no browser flow, and its help center states you must cancel in the Future Pro app to stop billing. If you deleted the app, reinstall it and sign in. Tap the profile icon in the bottom-right corner, then the gear icon in the top-right, then Your Account. You land on a screen headed ACCOUNT showing your card on file and your next renewal date.

3

Tap Update Membership, then Cancel Membership

The YOUR MEMBERSHIP screen shows your status, your plan, and the exact renewal date — note that date, because the confirmation at the end should match it. Ignore Change Membership Plan: that switches you to a different paid term, it does not stop the billing. Tap Cancel Membership at the bottom.

4

Decline the coach-switch offer

Future opens with a carousel of available coaches under "Interested In A Fresh Start?" and offers to match you with someone new. Tap Continue to Cancel to move past it.

5

Turn down the discount offer

Next comes the real retention play: "One last chance offer" with One Month For $99 — half off your next month. Tap Continue to Cancel again.

6

Start the survey — it is not optional

You get a "We're sad to see you go…" screen with a single Start Survey button. Unlike Netflix or Spotify, where the exit survey comes after you are already cancelled, Future puts it in the middle of the flow. There is no skip link — tap Start Survey to continue.

7

Confirm inside the survey dialog

The survey runs on Typeform inside the app. Work through the questions, and at the end a MEMBERSHIP dialog asks you to confirm, naming the date you lose access. Tap CANCEL MEMBERSHIP — not BACK, and not the green Submit button behind the dialog.

Check the end date on the confirmation

After a brief "Canceling Membership…" screen, a modal confirms Membership Ends on the date shown. That date should be one day before the renewal date you noted earlier. You keep full access until then, and Future emails you a cancellation confirmation — keep it.

If this applies to you

If you are on a prepaid 3, 6, or 12-month plan

Cancelling early does get you a refund of the unused portion, but Future recalculates the months you already used at the standard $199/month rate instead of your discounted rate. Cancel a 12-month plan after one month and you are charged $199 for that month — not the $149 you actually budgeted — and refunded the rest. Allow 5 to 10 days for it to reach your statement. Pausing instead keeps your discounted term intact.

If this applies to you

If Future shipped you a leased Apple Watch

Older memberships could include a leased Apple Watch, and the confirmation modal still mentions an email about returning it. This does not apply to most members: Future now expects you to use a wearable you already own, and there is no watch-return article in its help center. If you were sent hardware, wait for that email, and chase help@future.co if it does not arrive — an unreturned leased watch can be billed to you.

If you want your data deleted, not just your billing stopped

Cancelling keeps your account and history on file so you can rejoin. To erase it, email help@future.co with the subject "Please permanently delete my account and associated data" and include the email address and phone number on the account. Future says deletion completes within 90 days. Do this after cancelling, not instead of it — deletion is not a cancellation.

Frequently Asked Questions

No, provided you completed the survey and reached the "Membership Ends on" confirmation. Future stops billing at the end of your current cycle and you keep full access until that date. The common failure is stopping at the "We're sad to see you go…" screen without finishing the survey — that leaves the membership active. If you are not certain you got to the end, reopen the app and check whether YOUR MEMBERSHIP still says Active.

It depends entirely on where you are in the membership. First month: fully refundable, no questions asked, but you have to email help@future.co to request it — cancelling in the app alone does not trigger it. Rolling monthly: no partial-month refunds at all, so time your cancellation just before the renewal date. Prepaid 3, 6 or 12-month plans: the unused portion is refunded, but the months you used are recharged at the standard $199/month rather than your discounted rate. In every case Future says it will not refund months where you did not work out or message your coach, and refunds take 5 to 10 days to appear.

Almost certainly not. Future's current model is bring-your-own-wearable — its help center says a smartwatch is recommended but not required, and any Bluetooth-broadcasting device works. The "keep an eye out for an email on how to return the watch" line on the confirmation screen is a leftover from an older programme that leased members an Apple Watch alongside the subscription. If you were never shipped hardware by Future, ignore it. If you were, wait for the return instructions and follow up with help@future.co if they do not arrive.

Your account history is saved, so rejoining later picks up where you left off. While cancelled, though, you lose access to it — Future states you cannot view workouts, messages, or programming without an active membership, so export or screenshot anything you want to keep before your end date. Your data stays on Future's servers unless you separately email help@future.co to request permanent deletion.

Pausing is the better option for a short, known break: billing stops, your progress is kept, your spot with your coach is held, and you can still message them. The catches are that you only become eligible after 90 active days on the platform, and pauses are capped at two months. If you do not know when you will be back, Future itself recommends cancelling and reactivating later rather than pausing. Pause lives in the same place as cancel: Profile > Account > Update Membership > Pause Membership.

You can rejoin any time — reactivate from the Profile view in the app — and your workout history and coach notes are still there. Your original coach is a different question: Future warns that after a cancellation your coach may no longer be available, since their roster fills up while you are gone. If keeping a specific coach matters more than saving a month or two of fees, pausing protects that spot and cancelling does not.
