Quick answer

In the Grubhub app, tap AccountGrubhub+ membershipManage membershipCancel membership, then decline both save offers. On the web, go to grubhub.com/account/subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before your renewal date — Grubhub's terms say a same-day cancellation still gets billed. First, though, check whether you already get Grubhub+ free with Amazon Prime.

Grubhub+ was the one you remembered

The next renewal is the one you won't. RecurDash keeps the list and emails you before each charge lands.

Step-by-step instructions

1

Work out how you are actually paying for Grubhub+

Grubhub+ is handed out through several partners, and the cancel button lives in a different place for each one. If you pay Grubhub directly, everything below applies. If you got it through Amazon Prime, you cancel at Amazon instead. If it came with Lyft Pink, a Bank of America card, your employer, or your campus dining plan, see the optional steps at the end.

2

Open Grubhub+ membership and read your next charge date

Tap the Account icon, then the Grubhub+ membership entry. Scroll to the bottom of the benefits page and you will find a Manage membership button, with a line above it naming the exact date and amount of your next charge.

Grubhub+ benefits page scrolled to the bottom, showing a "Members can save up to $5 per order" panel, a yellow Start an order button, a Manage membership button, and fine print reading "Your payment method will be charged $9.99 plus applicable tax on May 2 2025"
3

Tap Manage membership, then Cancel membership

A sheet slides up headed "Manage your membership" with two rows: Edit payment method and the cancel row. On a paid plan that row reads Cancel membership; during a free trial it reads Cancel trial. Tap it.

Answer the "Why are you canceling?" survey

Grubhub asks for a reason before it shows you any save offer. The screen is headed "We're sorry to see you go" and names the date your benefits end, with five options: Switched to competitor, Something else, Didn't order enough, Not enough restaurants, and Cost of membership. Submit stays greyed out until you pick one.

Know that your reason picks the offer you get next

Select an option and Submit turns yellow. The answer is not just feedback: Grubhub uses it to choose which retention offer to show you on the following screen. Picking "Cost of membership" is what surfaces the free-month offer described in the next step.

Decline the free month

The next sheet asks "How about a free month on us?" and shows your $9.99/mo price struck through beside a "Free next month" badge. Tap Cancel membership in red at the bottom, not the yellow Enjoy a free month button.

Tap Cancel anyway on the last screen

One more sheet appears, headed "You still have time to save", listing the benefits you are giving up: unlimited $0 delivery fees, lower service fees, and access to exclusive offers. Tap Cancel anyway underneath the yellow Save with Grubhub+ button.

Confirm you are no longer a member

Go back to the Account tab. If the cancellation went through, the Grubhub+ membership entry is replaced by a promo banner inviting you to try Grubhub+ — the app only shows that to non-members. On a paid plan your benefits keep working until the end of the cycle; on a trial they stop right away.

If this applies to you

If you get Grubhub+ through Amazon Prime

You cannot cancel this one inside Grubhub. On amazon.com open Your Account, find the Manage Your Data section, open "Manage apps & data services" (Grubhub's membership terms call the same screen "Manage apps & services with data access"), and unlink Grubhub. That ends the free membership. Grubhub customer support can also do it for you. Cancelling or even pausing Prime kills Grubhub+ on its own — and if you resume Prime later you have to redeem the offer again at amazon.com/prime/offer/embedded/grubhub/prime-deal/.

If this applies to you

If your Grubhub+ came with Lyft Pink or a Bank of America card

Both are one-year free trials that convert to paid at $9.99/mo, and both are cancelled inside Grubhub using the steps above — not at Lyft or your bank. The Bank of America offer closed to new redemptions on 31 December 2023, so anyone who took it has already rolled onto paid billing. Cancelling Lyft Pink ends Grubhub+ with it; pausing Lyft Pink does not.

Cancelling on the web instead

Sign in at grubhub.com or seamless.com, open the drop-down menu at the top right, go to Grubhub+, then Cancel membership and confirm. The direct link is grubhub.com/account/subscription. Note that there is no App Store or Google Play route to check: Grubhub bills Grubhub+ itself, so it will never appear under iPhone Settings → Subscriptions, and finding nothing there does not mean you have cancelled.

If the charges do not stop

Grubhub's terms give you 60 days from the date of a charge to dispute it — after that you waive the right entirely. Contact Customer Care at grubhub.com/help/contact-us or 1 (877) 585-1085 well inside that window, and keep the cancellation confirmation. Since the FTC settlement, Grubhub must also remind every subscriber about their membership and how to cancel at least once a year, so watch for that email and use it as a prompt to re-check.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not if you cancel in time. Grubhub requires cancellation up to 24 hours before your next scheduled payment — their own worked example is that a January 1 renewal must be cancelled by 11:59:59 PM ET on December 31. Cancel inside that final day and the next cycle still bills, with no refund. Once the cancellation lands, a paid membership keeps its benefits until the end of the current billing period; a free trial loses them immediately.

As a rule, no. The membership terms state that members "are not eligible for refunds on any charges incurred for Grubhub+ or credits for partially used membership periods," with exceptions only at Grubhub's own discretion. What you do have is a dispute window: unauthorised charges must be raised with Grubhub within 60 days of the charge date, after which the terms say you waive the right. Customer Care is at grubhub.com/help/contact-us or 1 (877) 585-1085, and asking politely is free — a discretionary credit is the realistic best case.

Spend your balance before you cancel. The 5% pickup credit expires 90 days after the most recent credit is issued, and the terms say that when a membership is terminated all Special Offers "immediately terminate and become void." Your Grubhub account, saved addresses, payment methods and order history are untouched — you just drop back to paying standard delivery and service fees, and Grubhub stops matching your Donate the Change donations.

It depends on the partner. Amazon Prime memberships are cancelled at Amazon, not Grubhub: open Your Account, go to Manage Your Data, open "Manage apps & data services" and unlink Grubhub. Lyft Pink and Bank of America memberships are the opposite — they are free trials that convert to $9.99/mo and you cancel them inside Grubhub with the normal steps. Employer-funded corporate memberships and campus dining memberships start and end with your employer's or school's contract; you are never billed individually and cannot cancel the funding yourself.

Yes, and Grubhub will not charge you — but the trade-off is different from a paid cancellation. Grubhub's help centre is explicit: "If you cancel during a trial period, your benefits will end immediately." A paid member who cancels keeps $0 delivery until the cycle ends; a trial member who cancels loses it the moment they confirm. So there is no reason to cancel a trial early. Set a reminder and cancel with a day or two to spare instead, and keep the free delivery until then.

Yes — sign up again at grubhub.com/plus at any time, and your account, addresses and order history are all still there. One catch worth knowing before you cancel: the terms say that if your membership "is ever terminated for any reason, you will not be eligible for a free or promotional trial on any subsequent Grubhub+ membership." Rejoining means paying $9.99 from day one. If you hold Amazon Prime, redeem the free Prime version instead of paying again.
