A 12-step walkthrough with real screenshots from the live cancel flow.
Revolut has no cancel button — a paid plan sits on top of a free Standard account, so you downgrade instead. In the app: profile icon → Your plan → See plans → Downgrade to Standard, then Proceed with downgrade. It is app-only — there is no way to do this on the website. If you have been on the plan between 14 days and 10 months, Revolut charges an early-termination break fee before it will let you leave, and monthly payers keep their benefits until the end of the cycle they have already paid for. Closing your Revolut account entirely is a separate process — and it requires downgrading to Standard first.
The next renewal is the one you won't. RecurDash keeps the list and emails you before each charge lands.

Wondering if you're paying more than you used to? the price you used to pay vs the price you pay now.
See Revolut's pricing, tiers, and difficulty score in one page. Revolut ranks #2 of 235 by cancellation difficulty.
The date you started the plan decides what leaving costs, and Revolut does not remind you until you are several screens deep. Three brackets apply: under 14 days — the plan ends immediately and you get a full refund of the subscription. Between 14 days and 10 months — a break fee applies. After 10 months — no break fee. Find your start date under Your plan → Billing before you go any further.
Tap your profile icon in the top-left corner, select Your plan, then tap See plans. On the Change plan screen, Revolut leads with an upgrade offer for the tier above yours and puts Downgrade to Standard underneath it in red. Tap the red one.
Revolut shows a personalised screen headed "you will lose your Premium benefits", listing what you give up: reduced crypto and exchange fees, fee-free ATM withdrawals, travel insurance, and any partner subscriptions bundled with the plan. Scroll to the bottom and tap Proceed with downgrade.
A sheet headed Your downgrade terms is where the cost finally appears. It gives you three things: the date your current plan expires, a line telling you how long you would have to stay to avoid fees, and a Break fee row with the amount. For every plan except Ultra, that fee is two months of your plan fee when you leave between 14 days and 10 months of starting; Ultra is one month, within a 6-month window. Tap Proceed with downgrade to accept it.
Revolut asks you to pick a reason from six options, ranging from "I am not getting value for money" to "I upgraded by accident". None of it is required — there is a Skip link in the top-right corner. If you do pick one, Continue becomes tappable.
The last screen, Have your say, asks for free-text feedback you can leave blank. Above the buttons it restates the date your plan stays active until. The confirm button reads Downgrade for [amount] — the break fee is written into the button itself. Tap it.
A sheet with a blue check confirms "You will be downgraded to Standard" and gives the date your benefits run until. Write that date down — it is the day your plan actually stops, not today. Tap Got it.
Go back to Your plan → Billing. Two lines confirm the downgrade landed: Plan now reads your current tier followed by "You will be switched to Standard on [date]", and Next payment reads "No upcoming payments". If either line still shows a renewal, the downgrade did not go through.
The break fee is debited from your Revolut balance, not from an external card, so a near-empty account will stop you leaving. Revolut shows a red cross and "You do not have enough money in your account to make the payment", names the exact shortfall, and offers only an Add money button. Top up by that amount and run the flow again — until the fee clears, you are still on the paid plan and still being billed for it.
Annual payers do not pay a break fee at all — but they also get no refund for the unused months. You keep the plan until the end of the annual period you already paid for, one year from your start date, and then drop to Standard. There is nothing to gain by timing an annual downgrade: do it whenever you decide, because the money is already spent either way.
A scheduled downgrade is reversible right up until it takes effect. Go to profile icon → Your plan → Billing and tap Keep plan. Revolut states it will automatically refund any break fee you paid. The catch runs the other way too: if you were refunded for ending the plan early, that refund gets charged back when you stay.
Downgrading only ends the paid plan; your account, card, and balances stay open. Closing the account is a separate job with a checklist, and downgrading to Standard is one of its prerequisites — so the steps above come first either way. You also need a zero balance across every account and pocket, no pending transactions, no open investment account, no active Kids & Teens accounts, insurances or credit obligations. Then: profile icon → Account → Close account. Download any statements you need first; you lose access to them afterwards.
RecurDash keeps track of what you're paying for and emails you before each renewal — so the next cancellation happens on your schedule, not after the charge. No bank login required.
