Quick answer

Cancel GTA+ in the store you bought it from: each store bills its own membership, and a membership only works on the platform it was bought on. On PS5, sign in to PlayStation Account Management, select Subscription, then Cancel below GTA+. On Xbox, select Manage, then Cancel at account.microsoft.com/services. On PC, use Rockstar's GTA+ manage page (Rockstar Games Launcher and Epic) or your Steam account page. You keep GTA+ until the paid month ends, with no refund for it, and a GTA Online ban doesn't stop the billing.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Sign in to PlayStation Account Management

GTA+ is billed and cancelled by the store you bought it from, so start with the platform you play on. These steps are for PS5, where the PlayStation Store bills you; the Xbox, Rockstar Games Launcher, Epic and Steam routes are in the steps below. In any web browser, go to playstation.com/acct/management and sign in with the PlayStation Network account that bought GTA+. If you bought it for someone else's profile, sign in as that account: the subscription is listed on the account that paid for it.

  2. Select Subscription

In Account Management, select Subscription. Sony's help says this page lists every subscription the account pays for, and selecting one shows its next payment date. Find GTA+ in the list. If it isn't there, check you're signed in to the right account, then try the PS5 console route in the steps below, which has a second menu where some players have found it.

  3. Select Cancel below GTA+

Select Cancel below GTA+ and confirm. Sony says a cancelled subscription is deactivated from the next payment date, so GTA+ keeps working until then and you aren't charged again. If you decide to keep it, Sony's help says to select Reactivate Subscription. There's no refund for the month you've already paid for. Before the end date, claim anything you want from the current GTA+ event: Rockstar's terms say items you've claimed stay on your account, and anything unclaimed when the membership ends is forfeited.

  4. If this applies to you

On a PS5 console or the PlayStation App instead

On the PS5, go to Settings, then Users and Accounts, then Account, then Payment and Subscriptions, then Subscriptions. Select GTA+, then Cancel Subscription. If GTA+ isn't in that list, Sony documents a second route for some subscriptions: Payment and Subscriptions, then Game and App Services, select the subscription, then Turn Off Auto-Renewal. In 2022 that was the only place several players on r/gtaonline could find GTA+; one wrote: "Had to scroll through that giant list to find GTAV". In the PlayStation App, tap the PlayStation Store icon at the bottom, then the menu icon at the top right, then Subscriptions Management, and select Cancel below GTA+.

  5. If this applies to you

If you play on Xbox Series X|S or the Xbox app on PC

The Microsoft Store bills GTA+ on Xbox Series X|S. It also bills a GTA+ membership bought inside GTA V Enhanced in the Xbox app on PC, which is a separate subscription from any console one. Go to account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with the Microsoft account that bought it. Find GTA+, select Manage, then Cancel (Microsoft says the button may read Upgrade or Cancel), and follow the instructions to the end. If you see Turn on recurring billing instead of Manage, the subscription is already set to end on the date shown. Microsoft says cancellations must be made more than 2 days before the billing date, so don't leave it to the last day.

  6. If this applies to you

If you play on PC through the Rockstar Games Launcher or Epic Games

Rockstar bills GTA+ bought in the Rockstar Games Launcher, on the Rockstar Store or in GTA V Enhanced's in-game store. Open the Rockstar Games Launcher, select GTA+, then Manage GTA+. Or go to store.rockstargames.com/gta-plus/manage and sign in with your Rockstar Games account: the page is headed Manage your GTA+ Subscription and shows your Membership Status under Subscription Details. Rockstar's newest cancel article (December 2025) sends Epic Games players to this same page. An older Rockstar article pointed them to Epic's own subscriptions page (accounts.epicgames.com/account/subscriptions), so check there if Rockstar shows no membership. If the page still says No Active Membership once you're signed in, Steam or the Microsoft Store is probably the one billing you. Rockstar's refund policy says a cancelled subscription runs to the end of the billing period, and the fee already paid isn't refunded.

  7. If this applies to you

If you bought GTA+ on Steam

Steam bills GTA+ bought from its store page. Go to store.steampowered.com/account (Account Details) and cancel the GTA+ subscription there. Steam's help says a cancelled subscription stays active until the paid period runs out, can't be frozen, and gets no partial refund. Where you bought the game doesn't settle who bills GTA+: Rockstar's terms count its launcher and the in-game store as Rockstar's own stores. One Steam player on r/gtaonline kept getting renewal emails after cancelling in 2026, was sent to Rockstar by Steam support, and had to cancel on Rockstar's website as well. If renewal emails keep coming, check Rockstar's manage page too.

  8. If this applies to you

If you redeemed the free month from a GTA VI pre-order

Digital pre-orders of GTA VI bought before November 20, 2026 come with one month of GTA+ at no extra cost, and it only starts when you redeem it: on the PlayStation Store by March 31, 2027, from the GTA+ product page, or on the Microsoft Store within 180 days of the pre-order, under Offers & Credits. Rockstar says that after the month, the membership renews at the regular monthly price ($7.99 in the US) until you cancel. To take the month without paying for a second, cancel straight after redeeming, using the PlayStation or Xbox steps above: Sony and Microsoft both keep a cancelled subscription running to its end date, so you keep the free month. If you were already a member, the free month is added to your subscription and your next billing date moves a month later.

  9. If this applies to you

If you're banned from GTA Online, or still being charged

A ban doesn't cancel GTA+. Rockstar's support says that after a ban or suspension from GTA Online you need to cancel the membership yourself, in the store that bills it. If a charge arrives after you cancelled, check three things. First, the store: each GTA+ membership is held by one store and works on one platform, so a second membership on another platform or account bills on its own. Second, the date: on Microsoft, a cancellation within 2 days of the billing date can still be charged. Third, the confirmation: in 2022 a PS5 player turned off auto-renewal, then weeks later got a "thank you for your purchase" email from PlayStation for another month, so make sure the subscription page shows GTA+ as ending. Removing your card doesn't cancel anything. Ask the store that charged you about a refund.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be charged after canceling GTA+?

No, as long as the cancellation goes through before your next billing date. GTA+ renews every month ($7.99 in the US on every platform), and Rockstar says auto-renewal can be cancelled at any time through the store that bills you, with access ending at the end of the billing period you've paid for. After that, the monthly GTA$500,000 bonus stops. On Microsoft, cancel more than 2 days before the billing date. Cancelling GTA+ doesn't touch PlayStation Plus or Game Pass, which bill separately and have their own cancellation guides on this site.

Can I get a refund on GTA+?

Usually not for a month that has started, and the rules depend on the store. Rockstar's refund policy says subscriptions bought from Rockstar aren't refundable, apart from rights local law gives you; buyers in the EEA and UK have 14 days to withdraw, unless they consented to immediate supply and acknowledged losing that right. The PlayStation Store refunds only the first payment, within 14 days of signing up, and may reduce it if you've used GTA+. Steam gives no partial refunds for unused subscription time. Microsoft says some subscription charges can be refunded and others can't, and in a few countries, including Canada, Israel, Korea and Türkiye, it gives a prorated refund when you cancel. Rockstar's own store page just tells you to see the store's terms "for applicable refund policies, if any".

What happens to my cars, GTA$ and GTA+ games after canceling?

Anything you claimed while you were a member stays on your account, including the free cars and event items. Rockstar's terms say unclaimed benefits are forfeited when the membership ends, and you lose the monthly GTA$ bonus, member discounts and early access, and the GTA+ Games Library. Cars in The Vinewood Club Garage stay too: Rockstar's patch notes say they can still be accessed and stored after the membership expires, but you can't add or replace vehicles in that garage. Regulars on r/gtaonline describe it the same way.

How do I tell which store bills me for GTA+?

Think about where you play and where you joined. On PS5 it's the PlayStation Store, and on Xbox Series X|S the Microsoft Store. On PC it's Rockstar (the Rockstar Games Launcher, the Rockstar Store or the in-game store, which is also where Rockstar sends Epic Games players), Steam, or the Microsoft Store through the Xbox app. The receipt email for your last charge comes from whoever bills you. A membership only works on the platform it was bought on, so if you have GTA+ on two platforms you're paying twice and need to cancel both. Rockstar's own cancel article sends you to the store you bought from rather than cancelling for you.

Can I cancel the free GTA+ month from my GTA VI pre-order?

Yes. The month only starts when you redeem it, on the PlayStation Store by March 31, 2027 or on the Microsoft Store within 180 days of pre-ordering, and Rockstar says it then renews at the regular monthly price until cancelled. Cancel in the store as soon as you've redeemed it: Sony and Microsoft both keep a cancelled subscription running to its end date, so you still get the whole month. If you don't want GTA+ at all, don't redeem it, since Rockstar describes the month as something you redeem from the platform store.

Can I rejoin GTA+ after canceling?

Yes. Buy it again from the store for the platform you play on; a membership from another store won't work there. Rockstar says that after a membership expires you may have to wait a brief period before you can subscribe again. Items you claimed before you left are still on your account, and the cars in The Vinewood Club Garage never left it.
