Quick answer

Open tv.youtube.com → Settings → Membership in a web browser, click Manage, then Cancel membership and Cancel. The pause slider on the same panel is not a cancel. You keep access until the end of the period you've paid for, YouTube doesn't refund partial months, every add-on cancels with the plan, and the NFL Sunday Ticket add-on stops working once the plan ends.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Open YouTube TV in a web browser

Go to tv.youtube.com in a browser on a computer or phone and sign in with the Google account that pays for YouTube TV. In a family group that's the family manager: YouTube says only the manager can change the subscription. YouTube's help for iPhone and iPad sends you to a web browser, and a Product Expert on Google's forum confirms the iOS app can't cancel. On Android, YouTube's help says the app's Settings menu works as well as the website.

  2. Go to Settings, then Membership, and click Manage

Select your profile photo in the top right, then Settings, then Membership. The direct address is tv.youtube.com/settings/subscriptions, and the Cancel now button in YouTube's help links to tv.youtube.com/cancel. Click Manage next to your plan. The panel that opens has a slider to pause your membership for 4 weeks to 6 months, and the Cancel membership link.

Heads up: YouTube puts the pause slider on the same panel as the cancel link, and its help pages push it too ("Pause your membership instead"). A pause bills you again automatically, at the normal monthly price, the day it ends. If you want the charges to stop, leave the slider alone.

  3. Click Cancel membership, then Cancel

YouTube's help names two clicks: Cancel membership, then Cancel. Members report an "Are you sure?" step that asks why you're leaving, and some were offered a discount there. Turn it down and click Cancel to finish. Cancelling the plan also cancels every add-on on it, such as 4K Plus, Entertainment Plus or NFL RedZone with Sports Plus.

Heads up: The discount screen comes from members' reports; YouTube's help doesn't mention it, so it may not appear for everyone. Members describe it as a retention offer for a limited time, after which the regular rate comes back. Take it only if you'd stay at the discounted price anyway.

  4. Check the Access until date

Back on the Membership page, your plan should now read Access until, followed by a date. A Diamond Product Expert on Google's YouTube TV forum says that date is the confirmation, and that YouTube TV doesn't send an email confirming a cancellation. Take a screenshot of the page for your records. You can keep watching until that date. After it, your recordings are kept for 21 more days and then expire.

  5. If this applies to you

If you have NFL Sunday Ticket

The NFL Sunday Ticket add-on needs an active YouTube TV plan. YouTube's own fine print says "If you cancel YouTube TV, you will lose access to NFL Sunday Ticket" and "No refunds". Its help says a Season Pass can't be cancelled or refunded for the current season once it has renewed, "even if you cancel your YouTube TV membership", and that monthly installments are a full-season commitment you can't stop mid-season. A Month-to-Month plan can be removed any time under Your Add-ons (Remove, then Yes, Cancel). Cancelling YouTube TV also cancels the Season Pass auto-renewal for next season, but you can't cancel that renewal while YouTube TV is paused. Sunday Ticket bought as a standalone Primetime Channel on YouTube is a separate purchase that doesn't depend on YouTube TV, and it's managed at youtube.com/paid_memberships.

  6. If this applies to you

Pause is a break, not a cancel

If you only want time off between sports seasons, Pause holds the membership for 4 weeks to 6 months. It starts when your current billing cycle ends. While paused you can't watch or record, your existing recordings are kept until the pause ends (still subject to YouTube TV's standard 9-month expiry), and when it ends YouTube charges your normal monthly price automatically and that becomes your new billing date. A pause can't be extended, though you can resume early and pause again. Pause isn't available if a mobile carrier, an internet provider or Google Play bills you.

  7. If this applies to you

If you'd rather pay less than leave

Since February 2026 YouTube TV has sold cheaper genre plans next to the main plan ($82.99 a month), such as Entertainment at $54.99 or Sports at $64.99 a month. Switch under Settings, then Membership; YouTube says plan switching isn't available in the iOS or Android apps. The new plan starts at once and that day becomes your billing date, add-ons carry over, and YouTube's help says moving to a cheaper plan earns a credit for the difference on your next payment. Check that it appears, since one member reported support wouldn't apply it. Two more catches: switching ends any promotional price you're on, and recordings from channels the new plan drops leave your library unless you switch back within 21 days.

  8. If this applies to you

If a carrier, internet provider or Google Play bills you

Settings, then Billing shows how you pay. If a mobile carrier or internet provider bills you (YouTube's help mentions Verizon, Frontier and WOW!), YouTube's help points you to the same cancel steps, but you can't pause, YouTube can't refund that bill, and plan changes go through the provider. If the cancel option isn't there, cancel with the provider. Should you sign up again later, Google bills you directly instead. If Google Play bills you, you can't pause either: on Android, open Subscriptions in Google Play, select YouTube TV, tap Cancel subscription and follow the prompts. Play's refund rules apply.

  9. If this applies to you

If you want a refund, or want access to end now

YouTube TV doesn't refund or credit partial billing periods. Its refund form at youtube.com/refund/tv is for features that are defective or don't perform as stated, and for a free trial that turned into a charge you meant to avoid. If a refund is granted, you lose access straight away. To cancel and lose access immediately, YouTube's help says to contact its support team through support.google.com/youtubetv/gethelp, which leads to a chat or a call back. For a charge you don't recognise at all, YouTube asks you to report it to Google within 120 days of the transaction.

  10. If this applies to you

If you're still charged after cancelling

Product Experts on Google's YouTube TV forum name two usual causes: the membership is on a different Google account from the one you cancelled on, or someone else bills it (Google Play, a carrier or an internet provider). A Sunday Ticket Season Pass also keeps billing its installments after YouTube TV ends (see above). Removing your card isn't a cancel: one member who did that was still billed every month a year after cancelling. Contact support through support.google.com/youtubetv/gethelp, where an agent should be able to find the account from your card. Don't search the web for a YouTube TV phone number: a Product Expert warns that the results often lead to scammers who don't work for Google.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be charged after canceling YouTube TV?

Not for the plan. Once you cancel, YouTube stops billing it and you keep access until the end of the period you've paid for, and add-ons cancel along with it. Two kinds of charge can carry on: NFL Sunday Ticket Season Pass installments, which YouTube treats as a full-season commitment you can't stop mid-season, and a membership billed on a different Google account or by a carrier, internet provider or Google Play. If a charge you don't recognise turns up, contact YouTube TV support, or report it to Google within 120 days.

Can I get a refund on YouTube TV?

Usually not. YouTube says it doesn't give refunds or credits for partial billing periods, and its offer fine print says "No refunds". The exceptions are narrow: a request at youtube.com/refund/tv when features are defective or don't perform as stated, or when a free trial converted after you meant to cancel. If a refund is granted, your access ends immediately. NFL Sunday Ticket isn't refunded once charged. A carrier or internet provider applies its own refund policy, and Google Play applies Play's. YouTube TV is sold only in the US, so EU and UK withdrawal rights don't apply.

What happens to my DVR recordings if I cancel, and can I come back?

Recordings outlast the membership by 21 days. YouTube's help says recorded programs in your library expire 21 days after your paid or trial period ends, while it saves your library preferences in case you sign up again. You can rejoin any time, but YouTube warns you may not get your previous recordings back or qualify for promotional prices, and free trials are only for first-time members. To keep recordings through a break, Pause holds them until the pause ends (subject to the standard 9-month expiry), but it bills you again when it ends.

How do I cancel YouTube TV if I signed up through Apple, Google Play, or my carrier?

Apple: YouTube TV stopped taking payment through Apple's App Store in March 2020, so an iPhone or iPad member cancels on tv.youtube.com in a browser, not in iPhone Settings. Google Play: cancel in the Play Store under Subscriptions; you can't pause, and Play's refund rules apply. Mobile carrier or internet provider: YouTube's help points to the same Membership page, but you can't pause, refunds and plan changes go through the provider, and if you rejoin later Google bills you directly. Settings, then Billing on tv.youtube.com shows how you pay.

Can I cancel YouTube TV during the free trial?

Yes, the same way, and YouTube's help says you keep access until the trial ends without being charged. An older TeamYouTube forum post said trial access ends at cancellation, so check the date shown on the Membership page afterwards. Trial lengths vary by offer, and the Membership page shows how many days are left. If you cancel by accident, you can reactivate the trial there. If the trial already turned into a charge, request a refund at youtube.com/refund/tv; if it's granted, access ends at once.

Do I lose NFL Sunday Ticket if I cancel YouTube TV?

Yes, if you bought it as a YouTube TV add-on. YouTube's fine print says "If you cancel YouTube TV, you will lose access to NFL Sunday Ticket" and that there are no refunds, and its help says a renewed Season Pass can't be cancelled or refunded for the current season even if you cancel YouTube TV. Monthly installments continue until the season is paid. Sunday Ticket bought as a standalone Primetime Channel on YouTube is a separate purchase that doesn't need YouTube TV. Cancelling YouTube TV also cancels the Season Pass auto-renewal, which otherwise charges full retail price before the next season.
