Step-by-step instructions

1

Sign in to your employer account

Go to indeed.com/hire and sign in with the account that holds the Smart Sourcing subscription. Only account admins can access the cancellation flow — if you don't see the Subscriptions option, you'll need admin-level permissions.

2

Open the Subscriptions page

Click or tap your email address in the top-right corner and select Subscriptions from the dropdown menu. You'll see all active Smart Sourcing plans assigned to your team.

3

Choose the subscription to cancel

Select the specific subscription you want to cancel from the list. If you have multiple seats (each team member has their own subscription), you'll need to cancel each one individually.

4

Click Cancel subscription

On the subscription detail page, click Cancel subscription. Indeed will show a retention prompt asking if you're sure you want to cancel, typically highlighting features you'll lose access to.

5

Confirm with "No thanks, continue canceling"

Click No thanks, continue canceling to finalize. This is the actual cancellation confirmation — not the previous step where you clicked Cancel subscription.

6

Verify your plan end date

Indeed confirms the cancellation and shows when your plan expires. Monthly plans end at the next billing date. Annual plans continue delivering monthly contacts through the full term — you've already paid for the year.

Use remaining contacts before they expire

Smart Sourcing contacts expire 6 months after they're issued, regardless of cancellation. If you have unused contacts, spend them before your plan ends — once the subscription lapses, you lose access to the resume database entirely.

Enterprise plans: contact your Indeed account team

If you're on a Smart Sourcing Enterprise license, the self-serve cancel flow won't work. Enterprise plans are managed through contracts — you must contact your Indeed account team directly to negotiate termination. Your plan stays active for the full contract term regardless.

Cancel Sponsored Jobs separately

Smart Sourcing and Sponsored Jobs are separate products with separate billing. Canceling your Smart Sourcing subscription does not stop Sponsored Jobs spend. To pause or close job sponsorship, go to Jobs in your employer dashboard and pause or close each sponsored posting individually.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Once you cancel, Indeed won't bill you again for Smart Sourcing. Your plan stays active until the current billing period ends — monthly subscribers keep access until their next bill date, and annual subscribers retain access (and continue receiving monthly contacts) through the full year they've already paid for.

Indeed does not advertise prorated refunds for mid-cycle cancellations. Their billing article states "Invoices can't be changed after they're issued." If you believe you were charged incorrectly, contact Indeed's employer support — but the TOS explicitly disclaims liability for indirect or consequential damages, so recovering subscription fees after the fact is unlikely without a billing error on their end.

Your remaining contacts stay usable until the plan's end date. After that, you lose access to the resume database, Sourcing Assistant, and all contact capabilities. Contacts that were already used (candidates you've messaged) remain in your messaging history. Unused contacts expire — they don't transfer to a future subscription if you rejoin.

Only account admins can access the Subscriptions page and initiate cancellation. If you're a team member without admin permissions, you'll need to ask your account administrator to cancel on your behalf. Check with your Indeed account admin — look for the person who originally purchased the subscription.

You can cancel at any time, but the plan runs through the end of the year you've already paid for. Indeed doesn't refund the unused portion of an annual subscription. You'll continue receiving monthly contact allotments until the term expires. If you want to avoid the next annual renewal, cancel at least a few days before the anniversary date.

Yes. After your plan expires, you can purchase a new subscription at any time from the Smart Sourcing plans and pricing page. Note that pricing may have changed — Indeed raised Professional pricing from ~$120/month to $520/month in 2025–2026. Previously unused contacts from your old plan do not carry over to a new subscription.
