A 9-step walkthrough with real screenshots from the live cancel flow.
On a free trial, open Settings → Billing, click Cancel trial., then confirm with Cancel my trial. You drop to the free plan immediately and cannot start another free trial. On a paid Creator or Pro plan, Kit's help center says to contact the in-app messenger to move to Newsletter (free) — you keep access until the end of the billing period, with a 30-day refund window via support.
The next renewal is the one you won't. RecurDash keeps the list and emails you before each charge lands.
No bank login.
Wondering if you're paying more than you used to? which subscriptions raised prices this year.
See Kit's pricing, tiers, and difficulty score in one page. Kit ranks #152 of 235 by cancellation difficulty.
Sign in at app.kit.com, open your account menu, and go to Settings → Billing (direct link: app.kit.com/account_settings/billing). On a trial you'll see a "My Plan" card with days remaining, your Creator or Pro tier, and an Upgrade now button.
Under My Plan, find the line that says you can cancel your free trial and downgrade to the free plan immediately. Click the blue Cancel trial. link — not Upgrade now.
A "Cancel your free trial" modal lists Free-plan keeps (broadcasts, forms and landing pages, selling digital products) and Creator features you lose right away: Creator Network recommendations, automations, integrations, automation templates, email sequences, and live chat / priority support.
Skip Keep my trial. Click the black Cancel my trial button to finish. That is the confirm step — there is no separate survey after it.
A confirmation modal should read "You're now on the Kit free plan." Click Jump in. The trial badge and Upgrade now promo for the trial should be gone — you're on Newsletter/free tooling, not a paid Creator trial.
The Cancel trial. link will not apply. Kit's Billing help says to contact support with the in-app messenger to downgrade from Creator to the Newsletter (free) plan. After a paid cancel, the account stays active until the last day of the billing period. For a 30-day refund on recent charges, ask support — it is not a self-serve button in the trial flow.
Kit's published policy: if you cancel, you can request any funds paid in the last 30 days refunded in full — including annual plans. Amounts older than 30 days are not refunded or prorated. Contact support (help@kit.com or the messenger) and do it before deleting the account.
Canceling or downgrading keeps your list and most data on the free plan. Account deletion (Settings → Account & Billing → Delete my Kit account) permanently wipes data within 24–48 hours after you type DELETE ACCOUNT. Export subscribers first if you ever delete, and request any refund before that step.
The product rebranded from ConvertKit to Kit. Older charges, emails, or bank descriptors may still use ConvertKit — same company. Cancel and billing still live under app.kit.com Account & Billing.
RecurDash keeps track of what you're paying for and emails you before each renewal — so the next cancellation happens on your schedule, not after the charge. No bank login required.
