Quick answer

On the web, go to Account Settings → Premium, click Cancel Subscription, skip the "Before you cancel Premium…" retention modal, and click Cancel Subscription again to confirm. Cancelling only stops the auto-renewal — you keep Premium until the end of the paid period. Cancelling does not refund you, but komoot has a separate self-service refund tool (60 days for yearly plans, 20 days for monthly). Cancel on the same platform you bought on.

Step-by-step instructions

1

Open the Premium tab in Account Settings

Sign in on komoot.com, then go to Account Settings and click the Premium tab in the left sidebar. You'll see your subscription status (Premium / Active), the date it auto-renews and the price, your subscription number, and your payment method.

2

Click Cancel Subscription

Click the Cancel Subscription link (with the trash icon) under your subscription status. komoot opens a "Before you cancel Premium…" modal.

3

Skip the retention modal

The modal lists 14 Premium features you'll lose — Worldwide Offline Maps, Worldwide navigation, Sport Specific Maps, Heatmaps, Multi days routes, 3D maps, Live Tracking, Weather on Route, Personal Collections and more — plus an optional "What made you decide to cancel?" text box and a "Keep exploring with Premium" button. The optional feedback box and the "Keep exploring" button are both retention nudges. To actually cancel, click the purple Cancel Subscription button at the bottom.

Confirm and verify the cancellation

After confirming, the status changes from Active to Expiring and the page reads "Your komoot Premium subscription will terminate on {date}." A toast confirms "Premium subscription canceled." You keep Premium until that date — komoot will not charge you again.

If you bought Premium through the App Store or Google Play, the website won't cancel it. On iPhone: Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → komoot → Cancel. On Android: Play Store → profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → komoot → Cancel. The Premium tab in your komoot account settings shows where you purchased.

Want your money back? Use the refund tool

Cancelling stops renewal but does not refund the current period. komoot has a separate self-service refund page: log in to your paid account, open the refund page, pick the subscription, and submit. If you're within the window, your last payment is refunded automatically to the original payment method (allow 5–10 working days). Yearly/multi-year subscriptions: 60 days. Weekly/monthly subscriptions: 20 days. One-time map purchases: 14 days.

Frequently Asked Questions

No — cancelling only stops the next renewal; you keep Premium until the end of the paid period. A refund is a separate request. komoot does offer a self-service refund tool with generous windows: 60 days for yearly/multi-year subscriptions, 20 days for weekly/monthly subscriptions, and 14 days for one-time map purchases. If you're inside the window, log in, visit the refund page, select the subscription, and your last payment is refunded automatically to the original method.

Nothing is deleted. When Premium expires your account reverts to the free plan — Premium features like Personal Collections and worldwide navigation are hidden, but your routes, activities, and saved content stay on your account. If you resubscribe with the same account, everything becomes available again. Any one-time komoot Maps (regions or the World Pack / "Complete Package") you bought also remain — those are separate one-time purchases that never expire.

They're two different products. komoot Maps (Single Region, Region Bundle, World Pack) are one-time purchases that unlock navigation in those regions forever — there is nothing to cancel. komoot Premium is the recurring subscription that adds extras on top: multi-day route planning, Personal Collections, Live Tracking, weather on route, sport-specific maps, 3D maps, the komoot map on Garmin, and worldwide maps and navigation. This guide cancels Premium; your one-time map purchases are unaffected.

No. komoot does not currently offer a pause option. The closest equivalent is to cancel — your routes, activities, and saved content all stay on your account, and when you're ready to come back you just resubscribe with the same account and everything returns.

You must cancel on the same platform you bought on. If you subscribed through the App Store or Google Play, the website can't cancel it — manage it in iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, or in the Play Store under Payments & subscriptions. If the whole Premium menu is missing, you're probably signed in with a different account than the one used to purchase. The Premium tab in your account settings tells you where the subscription was bought.

No. After you cancel, the status changes to "Expiring" and you keep all Premium features until the termination date shown on the Premium page. There are no further charges after you cancel. If you change your mind before that date, click "Subscribe again to Premium" / Reactivate to undo the cancellation with no interruption.
