Redeem this month's two titles before you cancel anything

Horizon+ gives you two Meta-picked apps each calendar month, and Meta's terms say any you haven't claimed "will expire at the end of each calendar month." Claim both now. You will still lose access when the paid period ends, but redeemed titles are attached to your Meta account — if you ever re-subscribe on the same account, they come back. Unredeemed ones are gone for good.

Open Horizon+ in the Meta Horizon app

Tap Menu at the top of your Horizon Feed, scroll to Payment and subscriptions, and tap Horizon+. The listing shows your price — $7.99/month or $59.99/year in the US — with a Manage subscription button at the bottom. The screenshots here predate Meta's May 2025 rebrand, so they still read "Meta Quest+"; it is the same subscription, same flow, same buttons.

Tap Manage subscription, then Cancel subscription

The Subscription details page lists your subscription amount, your payment method, and your renewal or trial end date. Scroll to the bottom and tap Cancel subscription.

Pick a reason — you cannot skip this one

A "Cancel subscription?" sheet slides up with seven options, from "Meta Quest+ is too expensive" to "I keep forgetting to redeem apps." Two of them, Other and Prefer not to say, commit you to nothing. Select one.

Tap Confirm

Once a reason is selected, Confirm turns blue and becomes tappable. The other button on the sheet is Not now, which closes it and leaves your subscription running — make sure you are tapping Confirm.

Check the expiry date on the confirmation screen

A "Subscription cancelled" banner appears and the header flips from "Billing starts" to "Expires on" with your exact date. That date is what matters — you keep everything until then. The blue Reactivate subscription button below it is there if you change course; ignore it otherwise.

Know what switches off on that date

When the period ends, Meta's terms say you "will no longer have access to any Digital Content made available as part of Meta Horizon+, including any previously redeemed MH+ Monthly Titles or the MH+ Games Catalog." The bundled Xbox Game Pass (Starter Edition) goes too — the help centre states it plainly. Games you bought outright from the store are unaffected; only the Horizon+ ones vanish.

Press the Meta or Oculus button on your right controller to open the Navigator, select Meta Horizon Store, then Settings, then Horizon+. Choose Manage Subscription, then Cancel Subscription, pick a reason and select Confirm. Identical flow, same reason survey.

If your Horizon+ came free with a headset and there is no Cancel button

Promotional and hardware-bundled trials sometimes show no cancel option at all. One subscriber on r/OculusQuest reported trying "on my phone, on the website, even on my headset" with no button anywhere on a 3-month bundled trial; another replied that theirs "didn't appear until towards the end of the free period." If that is you, set a reminder for a few days before the trial ends and check again, or open a ticket at meta.com/help/support rather than waiting and getting billed.

If you returned or unlinked the headset, the subscription is still running

Removing a device from your Meta account does not cancel Horizon+. A forum user who returned an Amazon-bought Quest and unlinked it was still charged $7.99, and Meta pulled a card linked through Accounts Center to do it — the terms permit Meta to "seek to update your account information through third-party sources" when a charge fails. Cancel the subscription itself. If the support portal demands a headset serial number you no longer have, skip it and use the email, chat or WhatsApp options at meta.com/help/support, which do not ask for one.

Not if you cancel at least 24 hours before your next billing date. Meta's help centre gives the worked example: on a March-to-April cycle, cancelling any time from 1 March through 31 March means access until 1 April and no charge on 1 April. Cancel inside the final 24 hours and the renewal can still go through. Your exact expiry date appears on the Subscription details page the moment the cancellation lands.

Normally no. Meta's terms state "Subscriptions are non-refundable, unless otherwise indicated or required by applicable law," and the help centre confirms you cannot request a refund for an app or game subscription. What you get instead is access through the end of the period you already paid for. Two exceptions are worth knowing: consumer law in the EU and UK gives a 14-day right of withdrawal on new subscriptions, and if Horizon+ came as part of a Meta Quest headset promotion you can return the headset within 30 days for a full refund covering the headset and the content.

You lose them. This is the part that surprises people: Meta's help centre says "when you unsubscribe from Meta Horizon+ you will lose access to all previously redeemed titles," and the terms confirm it takes effect once the paid period expires. The rotating Games Catalog goes at the same time, as does the bundled Xbox Game Pass. Meta support has also told at least one subscriber that in-app purchases and game saves go with them, which is broader than anything Meta publishes — worth assuming if you have progress inside a Horizon+ title. Games you bought outright from the store are yours and are not affected.

Through Meta, not Apple. Horizon+ is not an Apple in-app purchase or a Google Play subscription even when you signed up inside the Meta Horizon phone app — Meta bills the card on your Meta account directly, which is why the Subscription details screen shows your card rather than an App Store receipt. Looking in iPhone Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions will not show it. Use the Meta Horizon app, the website, or your headset.

Yes, and the flow is identical. Cancel during a 1-month trial and the Subscription details page switches to "Expires on" with your trial end date — you keep trial access until then rather than losing it immediately. Two things to watch: promotional trials bundled with a headset sometimes hide the Cancel button until near the end of the trial, and Meta's terms note that upgrading to a paid plan mid-trial forfeits whatever trial time was left.

The ones you redeemed do, provided you use the same Meta account and the titles are still on the platform. Meta's terms spell it out with an example: subscribe in month 1, cancel before month 4, re-subscribe in month 11, and you get back the titles you redeemed in months 1 to 3 plus the current month's. You also get whatever is in the Games Catalog at that point. Titles you never got round to redeeming do not come back — they expired at the end of the month they were offered in, which is exactly why claiming them before you cancel is worth the two minutes.
