Quick answer

Sign in at midjourney.com/account, click Cancel Plan, then confirm with the red Confirm Cancellation button. You keep access — including remaining Fast time — until the end of the current billing period. Midjourney does not refund unused months except in a narrow case (under 20 GPU minutes used for the lifetime of your account).

Midjourney was the one you remembered

The next renewal is the one you won't. RecurDash keeps the list and emails you before each charge lands.

Step-by-step instructions

1

Use your remaining Fast hours before you cancel

Canceling stops the next renewal, but you keep every paid feature — including leftover Fast GPU time — until your current period ends. Burn through Remaining Fast Hours on the Manage Subscription page first. After the end date, you can still view images on midjourney.com, but you can't generate on a paid plan until you resubscribe.

2

Sign in on the Manage Subscription page

Open midjourney.com/account in a browser and sign in. Billing lives on the website — not in Discord. If you're sent to a Discord invite or the old /subscribe habit, you're in the wrong place.

3

Click Cancel Plan

On Manage Subscription you'll see Your [plan] with an ACTIVE badge, Usage Details, Billing & Payment, and two buttons at the top right of the plan card: Cancel Plan and Change Plan. Click Cancel Plan. Don't click Change Plan — that switches tiers and keeps billing you.

4

Confirm Cancellation

A modal titled "We're sorry to see you go!" explains your plan will be set to cancel at the end of the current subscription period, and notes you can uncancel any time before that date. Click the red Confirm Cancellation button to proceed.

Wait for the update to confirm

The same modal switches to a Processing… state with "Update confirming…" while Midjourney talks to billing. Leave it open until it finishes — usually seconds. If it hangs longer than a minute, the modal itself says to email billing@midjourney.com.

Close the Success confirmation

When it works, the modal shows Success! — Your change has been confirmed with a green Update confirmed check. Click Close.

Verify Cancelling on your end date

Back on Manage Subscription, Billing & Payment should now say Cancelling on [date] instead of a renewal date, and Cancel Plan is replaced by Uncancel Plan. That date is when paid access ends and the next charge is skipped. If you change your mind before then, click Uncancel Plan.

If this applies to you

If a refund option appears (under 20 GPU minutes)

Midjourney only refunds if your account has used less than 20 GPU minutes for its entire lifetime — Fast, Turbo, and Relax all count. When you qualify, a refund option appears automatically during cancel. If you don't see it, you're not eligible under their policy. Processing can take up to 10 business days; you should get a confirmation email within minutes of a successful request.

If this applies to you

If you originally signed up through Discord

You still cancel on midjourney.com/account. Discord no longer hosts the subscribe/cancel controls for Midjourney plans, and Discord Nitro is a completely separate bill. Sign in with the same account you linked to Midjourney, then follow Cancel Plan as above.

10
If this applies to you

If you meant to buy monthly but got annual

Yearly billing is selected by default at checkout (20% off, paid upfront — Basic $96/yr through Mega $1,152/yr). Canceling stops the next yearly renewal; it does not refund unused months unless you hit the under-20-GPU-minute refund rule. Change Plan / downgrade also does not refund the current period — it only changes what you pay at the next renewal.

Frequently Asked Questions

No new charge should hit after you cancel. You keep full plan access — including remaining Fast time — until the end of the billing period you already paid for. On Manage Subscription, confirm Billing & Payment reads Cancelling on [date]. If a charge appears after that date, email billing@midjourney.com with the invoice.

Usually no. Midjourney's Terms say you will not be refunded for the current subscription period, and canceling an annual plan does not return unused months. The documented exception: if your account has used less than 20 GPU minutes lifetime (Fast/Turbo and Relax), a refund option appears automatically when you cancel. If you don't see it, their help center says they can't refund. EU and UK consumers may have a 14-day withdrawal right under local law that sits outside Midjourney's own policy — check your region's rules if you just subscribed.

Canceling does not delete your generated images or account history. Private images stay private. You can still open them on midjourney.com without an active subscription. Ownership of assets you created while subscribed continues under Midjourney's Terms even after you cancel or downgrade. What you lose on the end date is paid generation capacity (Fast hours, Stealth on Pro/Mega, higher concurrency), not your gallery.

Cancel on the website: midjourney.com/account → Cancel Plan → Confirm Cancellation. Discord is not the billing surface for Midjourney plans anymore, and Midjourney's main subscription is billed through Stripe on the web — there is no Apple/Google Play cancel path for that product. (The separate niji·journey mobile app is its own thing.) If Discord Nitro appears on your statement, cancel that under Discord's settings, not Midjourney's.

Not on the web app or Discord — Midjourney has not offered a free trial there since 2023. A limited trial exists only in the separate niji·journey mobile app. For the main product you're either on a paid Basic/Standard/Pro/Mega plan or you're not subscribed. If you just got billed for a full year by mistake, cancel immediately to stop the next renewal and check whether the under-20-GPU-minute refund option appears.

Yes. Before your end date, click Uncancel Plan on Manage Subscription to reverse the cancellation. After the plan ends, resubscribe anytime from the same page — your images and account history are still there. There is no penalty for canceling, but every new subscription auto-renews again, so you'll need to cancel before each renewal if you only want one period.
