Quick answer

Sign in at patreon.com/settings/memberships, click View Details on the membership you want to end, then Cancel membership and confirm. You keep access to that creator's paid content until the end of the current billing period — Patreon doesn't issue prorated refunds, because your payment went straight to the creator.

Wondering if you're paying more than you used to? how subscription prices have changed since 2021.

Step-by-step instructions

1

Switch to your member profile

Patreon memberships are per creator, so cancel each one separately. If you also have a creator page, click your profile picture in the bottom-left corner and switch to your member (fan) profile first — the Memberships settings only show up there.

2

Open Settings, then the Memberships tab

Click Settings in the left-side menu, then open the Memberships tab (or go straight to patreon.com/settings/memberships). You'll see every creator you currently support, each with its monthly price and tier name.

3

Click View Details on the membership

Find the creator you want to stop supporting and click the View Details button on their membership card. This opens the membership detail page with the cancel button.

Click Cancel membership and confirm

Click Cancel membership, then confirm the cancellation on the next screen. If you're still inside a free trial, the button reads Cancel trial instead — same effect, it stops the trial before it converts to a paid charge.

5

Decide whether to stay a free member

After confirming, Patreon asks whether to stay connected as a free member (you keep following the creator without paying) or toggle that off to leave entirely. Pick either and click Save and continue — your paid membership is canceled regardless.

6

Skip or fill the exit survey

Patreon shows an optional anonymous survey asking why you left, which is shared with the creator. It's not required — you can close it and the cancellation still stands.

7

Verify it in the Memberships tab

Go back to patreon.com/settings/memberships and confirm the creator no longer appears as an active paid membership. This is the fastest way to be sure the charge won't recur — do it if you canceled close to your billing date.

Canceling from the Patreon app

If you joined through the Apple App Store

If you subscribed inside Patreon's iOS app, Apple may handle the billing — in that case cancel through Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions on your iPhone. Memberships started on the web (card or PayPal) are canceled on patreon.com as above.

Canceling a free membership

For a free membership (no payment), the button is slightly different: on the web, open Settings > Memberships, click the more (…) button on the membership, then Cancel membership. In the app, open Your membership and tap Leave membership.

Frequently Asked Questions

No — once you cancel and confirm, that membership won't renew for the next billing period. One exception: if the creator uses per-creation ("per post") billing, you may see a final charge for paid posts published before you canceled. Always re-check the Memberships tab to confirm the membership is gone, especially if you canceled near your billing date.

Usually not. Patreon states it "doesn't typically offer refunds since payments go directly to creators." Refunds are the creator's call, not Patreon's — so you'd message the creator and ask. If you believe a charge was made in error, you can submit a request to Patreon support for review, but there's no automatic prorated refund when you cancel mid-cycle.

You keep access to that creator's paid posts and perks until the end of your current billing period. After that date, access ends unless you re-subscribe. Canceling early doesn't cut off access immediately — you've already paid for the period, so you get the rest of it.

Open Settings > Memberships, click View Details on the trial membership, and click Cancel trial before the "Trial ends" date shown on the card. If you let the trial lapse without canceling, it converts to a paid membership and you're charged the creator's regular price on that date — so cancel a day or two ahead to be safe.

No. Patreon confirms it "doesn't currently offer a pause feature." To temporarily stop payments you have to cancel the membership and re-subscribe later. Your access runs to the end of the paid period, then stops until you rejoin.

Yes — you can re-subscribe to any creator at any time. Patreon keeps your account, so rejoining is just a matter of pledging again from the creator's page. Note the price is whatever that creator currently charges, which may differ from your old tier if they've changed their pricing.
