Confirm which platform bills you

Search email for a receipt from Apple, a Google Play order, or a Stripe / QUITTR charge. Apple IAP cancels in Settings → Subscriptions (or the App Store subscriptions page). Google Play cancels in Play subscriptions. Stripe / web cancels through the portal link in the confirmation email — QUITTR's own cancel and sub-terms pages were returning errors on 2026-09-17, so the email link is the reliable web path. "Paid via Apple Pay" on the in-app Subscription screen is a payment-method label, not proof of IAP.

Open Settings in the QUITTR app

Open QUITTR and go to Settings. The list includes Profile, Notifications, Support, Earn, and Manage Subscription. Tap Manage Subscription. This screen does not stop Apple billing by itself.

Tap Unsubscribe Account — skip Upgrade to Lifetime

The Subscription screen shows your current plan and two rows: Upgrade to Lifetime ("Enjoy QUITTR forever without a subscription") and Unsubscribe Account ("Cancel your QUITTR subscription"). Tap Unsubscribe Account. Upgrade to Lifetime is a buy, not a cancel.

Skip or fill the Unsubscribe survey

QUITTR opens an Unsubscribe form: a feedback box, Monthly / Yearly plan toggles, and Confirm and Unsubscribe. Filling it is optional. The copy under the form says useful feedback "may get a full refund from our team" — that is not a published refund window. Tap Confirm and Unsubscribe when you are ready.

Add a reason if you want (optional)

If you typed feedback and selected Monthly or Yearly, Confirm and Unsubscribe turns solid. You can send the note or go back and leave the box blank — the next screens are the same either way.

Skip the addiction-guilt dialog

A sheet asks "Are you sure you want to continue giving power to your addiction?" The red choice is I'm giving up on myself. The blue choice is I'll keep trying. Tap the red line if you still want out. I'll keep trying aborts and leaves auto-renew on.

Tap Cancel Subscription on the second dialog

The next sheet asks "Are you sure you want to cancel your subscription?" with Cancel Subscription in red and Keep in blue. Tap Cancel Subscription. Keep is the default that stays subscribed.

Finish Cancel Subscription in Apple Settings

For an App Store plan, the in-app taps are not the last word. Open the iPhone Settings app → your name → Subscriptions → QUITTR → Cancel Subscription (scroll if you do not see it). On a computer signed into the same Apple Account, use apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Apple's help page: if there is no Cancel button, or you see an expiration date in red, it is already canceled. Screenshot that end date — premium stays until then; the next renewal should stop. Cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends.

Skip the in-app maze: cancel from Apple Settings directly

You do not need the QUITTR app to stop an App Store renewal. Settings → your name → Subscriptions → QUITTR → Cancel Subscription, or apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Official steps: support.apple.com/en-us/118428. If QUITTR is missing, search email for "receipt from Apple" and sign in with the Apple Account on that receipt — a family member's purchase can only be canceled by that Apple Account.

If you signed up through Google Play

Open the Play Store → profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → QUITTR → Cancel subscription. On a computer: play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions. Uninstalling QUITTR does not cancel Play billing. You keep the paid period; Play refunds (if any) go through Google, not the QUITTR app.

If this applies to you

Lifetime purchase: there is no auto-renew to cancel

Lifetime ($49.99 on the US App Store, also labelled Get Lifetime Access) is a one-time IAP. It does not renew. If you already paid Lifetime and still see a paywall, use Restore purchases if the app offers it, then email support@quittrapp.com with the Apple receipt — do not buy Unlimited monthly on top "to keep the app open." Refunds for a Lifetime IAP still go through reportaproblem.apple.com, not the Unsubscribe form.

Do not delete the app or account to stop the bill

QUITTR's subscription terms say deleting the app or the account does not cancel the subscription. Uninstalling is the same on Google Play. Cancel on Apple, Play, or Stripe first. Only delete the account if you want the recovery log gone — indexed terms say progress data stays unless you delete the account, and premium features drop when the paid period ends.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not for another period, if you cancel on the platform that bills you at least 24 hours before the current period (or trial) ends — that 24-hour cutoff is in QUITTR's App Store listing, its indexed subscription terms, and Apple's cancel help. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you already paid. You keep premium until that date. Uninstalling the app does not stop renewals.

Canceling stops the next renewal. It does not by itself return money for days left on the period. QUITTR's indexed subscription terms call purchases final and non-refundable except where law or Apple / Google / Stripe rules require otherwise, and they send App Store and Play refunds exclusively to those stores. Request an Apple refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. Play refunds go through Google. Stripe / web refunds are at QUITTR's discretion via the portal or support@quittrapp.com — their indexed refund page says support cannot overturn Apple, Google, or Stripe decisions. The in-app line that feedback "may get a full refund" is not a published window. EU and UK buyers may have a 14-day withdrawal right on a new digital subscription under consumer law; Apple's refund article says local consumer protections still apply. We could not load a live refund-policy page on 2026-09-17 (quittrapp.com returned 500).

Indexed subscription terms say premium access continues until the current billing period ends, then the account reverts to the free version. Recovery and progress data stay available unless you delete the account; premium-only features stop. The App Store listing says a subscription is required for full access — do not assume blockers, community, or the Life Tree still work the same on free. Canceling is not the same as deleting the account.

Cancel in that store. Apple: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → QUITTR → Cancel Subscription, or apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Google Play: profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → QUITTR → Cancel subscription. The QUITTR in-app Unsubscribe Account flow does not replace those store pages for IAP. If the charge is Stripe / web, use the customer-portal link in the confirmation email; QUITTR's website cancel page was down when this guide was checked.

Yes. Use the same Apple, Google, or Stripe path as a paid plan, and cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends or it can convert to a paid period. The App Store listing and indexed terms also say that if you subscribe before the trial ends, the leftover trial days are forfeited. The listing does not print a trial length — check the trial end date on your Apple or Google subscription screen. Uninstalling during the trial does not cancel it.

Yes. After the paid period ends you can subscribe again from the app or the store that billed you. Returning prices may not match what you paid before — the US App Store shelf lists more than one monthly and annual SKU at once ($9.99 and $14.99 monthly; $19.99 and $29.99 yearly). Lifetime is a separate one-time SKU; buying it is not the same as restarting Unlimited, and it does not auto-renew.
