A 11-step walkthrough with real screenshots from the live cancel flow.
Sign in at Dashboard → Pricing & subscriptions, click Manage or Unsubscribe on the plan you want to stop, then confirm with Unsubscribe. Paid features keep working until the end of the current billing cycle — this cancels Square software fees (Plus/Premium and add-ons), not payment processing itself.
The next renewal is the one you won't. RecurDash keeps the list and emails you before each charge lands.
No bank login.
Wondering if you're paying more than you used to? before you cancel — see what the alternatives cost.
See Square's pricing, tiers, and difficulty score in one page. Square ranks #31 of 235 by cancellation difficulty.
This guide stops Square's seller software subscription (Free / Plus / Premium, or a legacy vertical plan like Appointments or Shifts) billed under Pricing & subscriptions. It does not close your Square payments account, and it does not stop per-transaction processing fees. Closing the whole Square account is a separate, harder-to-reverse action — skip it if you still need to take cards.
Sign in to Square Dashboard, open Settings → Account & Settings, and click Pricing & subscriptions in the left sidebar. You can also go straight to app.squareup.com/dashboard/account/pricing.
On Pricing & Subscriptions, stay on the Subscriptions tab (not Domains). Each paid service or trial shows its price, trial end or next payment date, and a Manage or Unsubscribe link on the right. Cancel every row you do not want renewing — Square can list several at once.
If the row shows Unsubscribe, click it. If it shows Manage, click Manage to open the Manage subscription modal with your current plan, any cheaper tier, and the cancel controls at the bottom.
The Manage modal may offer Pause subscription or a lower tier (for example Free). Those are not the same as canceling: Pause removes paid features at period end and then auto-resumes; switching tiers still leaves you on a plan. Scroll to the Unsubscribe section and click the red Unsubscribe button.
Square opens an Unsubscribe from [plan] modal that repeats you keep advanced features until the end of the billing cycle and can resubscribe later. Click the blue Unsubscribe button in the top right. The feedback box is optional — leave it blank if you want.
If you type a note under “What could we do to make this service work for you?”, it does not change the cancel outcome. Click Unsubscribe either way.
You should see a Subscriptions Updated dialog that says you canceled the plan and that canceled features downgrade at the end of the current billing cycle. Click Done, then scan the Subscriptions list again so no other paid row is still set to renew.
Unified Free / Plus / Premium pricing is billed per location per month. If you have more than one location — or leftover add-ons from before the plan unification — repeat Manage / Unsubscribe on each row you want stopped. Leaving one active row still bills.
After paid software ends, you can stay on Square Free with no monthly software fee and keep processing payments (you still pay the Free processing rates when a sale goes through). Only close or deactivate the Square account if you are done with Square entirely.
Self-serve cancel keeps access through the paid period and does not automatically refund unused time. If you cannot find the subscription under Pricing & subscriptions — common with some annual Square Online charges — or you need Support to review a refund, contact Square Support (community Champions cite 855-700-6000). EU/UK 14-day withdrawal may also apply to new subscriptions depending on your situation.
RecurDash keeps track of what you're paying for and emails you before each renewal — so the next cancellation happens on your schedule, not after the charge. No bank login required.
