A 12-step walkthrough with real screenshots from the live cancel flow.
Sign in at vercel.com/dashboard, pick the Pro team, open Settings → Billing, click Downgrade, submit (or skip) the feedback modal, finish any Hobby-team merge prompt, then confirm Downgrade. Pro features end immediately and the $20/mo platform fee stops — this is not a period-end cancel.
The next renewal is the one you won't. RecurDash keeps the list and emails you before each charge lands.
No bank login.
Wondering if you're paying more than you used to? the subscription pricing reference.
See Vercel's pricing, tiers, and difficulty score in one page. Vercel ranks #12 of 235 by cancellation difficulty.
Vercel's Pro → Hobby path is a Downgrade, not a "Cancel subscription" button. Official docs require you to manually transfer any connected Stores and Domains to another team or project first — the flow can block until you do. Also note Hobby is for personal, non-commercial use; commercial projects need Pro or Enterprise.
Sign in at vercel.com/dashboard, select the Pro team in the team switcher, open Settings in the sidebar, then Billing. You'll see your Pro Plan header, usage credit, spend management, and payment methods. On a trial the badge reads Pro Trial next to End Trial and Start Pro Plan.
In the plan section click Downgrade (docs also call this Downgrade Plan). Do not click End Trial and Start Pro Plan — that converts the trial into a paid Pro subscription.
A modal titled We're sorry to see you go lists reasons a–g (shutting down, missing features, I meant to purchase v0, switching providers, too expensive, performance issues, Other). Pick one with the radio or letter keys, then click Submit. Filling it out is required to continue in the current UI — the choice does not change the downgrade outcome.
After you highlight a reason (for example My company or project is shutting down), a green checkmark appears and Submit stays available. Click Submit to reach the Downgrade Plan confirmation.
Each account may keep only one Hobby team. If you already have another Hobby team, Downgrade Plan asks you to pick one existing Hobby team to merge into the team you're downgrading. Select the team (radio), then continue — Cancel aborts.
Expand Review changes if shown (Automatic transfer, Team Members). Read the yellow warning: the merge-away team will be deleted, you immediately lose Pro features, and payments stop. The same warning points you to vercel.com/help to process a refund. Click the black Downgrade button to finish.
Billing should now show Hobby Plan with a green Active badge, an Upgrade pitch for Pro ($20/mo credit and higher limits), and your saved cards still on file. A blue Downgrade complete! toast confirms success. Open Invoices once to make sure no unexpected Pro line items remain.
Downgrade ends the trial immediately and returns the team to Hobby. Without a payment method on file, an expired trial also reverts to Hobby with no charge. If you added a card and let the trial finish without downgrading, billing for paid Pro starts when the trial ends.
v0 (v0.app) is a separate paid product from the Vercel Pro platform fee. Downgrading Pro does not cancel a v0 subscription, and the exit survey even lists I meant to purchase v0 as a reason. Cancel v0 on its own billing/settings path, then confirm Invoices no longer show a v0 line. Linked v0 + Pro cancels have caused stuck charges in the past — verify both.
After a downgrade, project settings that only work on Pro (for example multi-region Functions) can make Hobby builds fail with a vague error. Open the project settings, turn off Pro-only options, and redeploy. If a build still fails, open a case at vercel.com/help.
If Vercel Inc keeps charging ~$20/mo while Billing shows Hobby, check Invoices for the team and any other teams under the same login, cancel a lingering v0 subscription if present, and open vercel.com/help. You can also remove extra cards under Payment Method after the case is filed so a stale method cannot keep retrying.
RecurDash keeps track of what you're paying for and emails you before each renewal — so the next cancellation happens on your schedule, not after the charge. No bank login required.
