Quick answer

Sign in at voicenotes.com, click your profile picture (top right) to open Settings, click Subscription, then Manage subscription. Voicenotes opens Stripe's billing page in a new tab: click Cancel subscription there and confirm. Pro stays active until the end of the billing period, then your account moves to the free Basic plan and your notes are kept. Paid through the App Store or Google Play? Cancel in that store instead.

Voicenotes was the one you remembered

The next renewal is the one you won't. RecurDash keeps the list and emails you before each charge lands.

Step-by-step instructions

1
If this applies to you

Paid on the web in the last 14 days? Ask for a refund instead

Voicenotes gives a full refund within 14 days of a web purchase, as long as you have used no more than 6 hours of transcription. Email team@voicenotes.com with "Refund request" as the subject and include the email address on your account. Voicenotes says it then cancels the subscription itself and refunds you, and your account moves to the free plan, so you don't need the steps below. App Store and Google Play purchases are refunded by the store, not by Voicenotes.

2

Sign in on the web and open Settings

Go to voicenotes.com in a browser and log in. Click your profile picture in the top-right corner to open the Settings window. A web subscription is billed by Stripe and cancels from here; a plan bought in the iPhone or Android app is billed by Apple or Google and has to be cancelled in that store (see the store steps below).

3

Click Subscription

Under Profile, click the Subscription row, which shows your plan (Pro). The screenshot is from August 2026, when Settings had no section headings and the row read Subscriptions; the current web app lists it under Profile as Subscription. If you own a team, click Billing under Workspace instead.

4

Click Manage subscription

The Subscriptions panel shows your plan (Pro Individual - Pro), its next billing date and a green Active badge. Click Manage subscription, and Voicenotes opens Stripe's billing page in a new tab. In this August 2026 screenshot the panel had two buttons, View billing details and a red Cancel subscription; Voicenotes has since replaced both with the single Manage subscription button (in its web app as of October 2026, and in its help center's steps). If the panel says you subscribed via iOS or Android instead of showing a button, your plan is billed by that store.

5

Click Cancel subscription on Stripe's page and confirm

Stripe's page lists your Voicenotes plan. Voicenotes' help center says to select Cancel subscription there; if Stripe asks you to confirm, confirm. Our screenshots don't include Stripe's screens, so the wording you see may differ slightly. Stripe lets a business ask why you're leaving after you cancel, and any answer is fine: the cancellation has already gone through.

6

Check that the next billing date is gone

Back in Voicenotes, open Settings > Subscription again. In the August 2026 capture, the "Next billing date" line disappeared from the plan card once the plan was cancelled. The green Active badge did not change: the panel shows it on every paid plan, cancelled or not, and your plan does stay active until the end of the period you paid for. After that date your account moves to the free Basic plan.

If you subscribed in the iPhone or iPad app

Apple bills the plan, so Voicenotes can't cancel it: its Subscriptions panel only tells you to go to your iPhone settings. Open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, find Voicenotes and tap Cancel Subscription. App Store plans are priced differently from the web: in October 2026 Apple's US listing showed $8.99 a week, $14.99 a month and $89.99 or $99.99 a year, against $9 a month on the web. Some come with a 3-day free trial, which Voicenotes says to cancel at least 24 hours before it ends to avoid the first charge.

If you subscribed on Android through Google Play

Google bills the plan, so cancel it in Google Play: open the Play Store app, tap your profile icon, go to Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions, select Voicenotes and tap Cancel subscription. Cancelling in Voicenotes on the web doesn't touch a Google Play plan, and the web panel shows no button for it.

If you pay for a team

Only the team owner manages the team's billing: the owner clicks Billing under Workspace in Settings, then Manage subscription, and cancels on Stripe's page as above. Members see their plan in Settings but can't open it. Watch for one thing after a team ends: Voicenotes pauses an owner's individual subscription while the team is active and says it resumes automatically if the team is cancelled, so check Settings > Subscription afterwards and cancel the individual plan too if you don't want it. Enterprise plans show no cancel button; contact team@voicenotes.com.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not for a plan you cancelled. Voicenotes' terms say the cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle and no further charges are made; Pro stays active until then and your account moves to the free Basic plan. If a charge still appears, the usual cause is a second subscription on another channel: the web bills Pro monthly, so a weekly charge comes from a store plan, which only Apple or Google can stop. One App Store reviewer wrote in March 2026 that they had contacted Voicenotes support several times over a few weeks and were still being charged weekly. Team owners should also check that a paused individual plan didn't resume when the team ended.

On the web, yes, within 14 days of the purchase, as long as you have used no more than 6 hours of transcription. Email team@voicenotes.com with "Refund request" as the subject and your account email; Voicenotes says the refund is full, no questions asked, and that it cancels the subscription and moves your account to the free plan. Past 14 days, Voicenotes asks you to contact the same address for "exceptional circumstances"; its terms otherwise give no refund for the rest of a period after you cancel. App Store purchases are refunded by Apple (App Store app > your profile > Purchased > the item > Report a Problem), and Apple's decision is final. For Google Play, Voicenotes points to Google's general policy: no refund for the current billing period, but you keep access until it ends.

They aren't deleted. When Pro ends your account moves to Basic, which gives 100 minutes of transcripts and summaries a week (recordings beyond that are saved and can be transcribed when the minutes refresh) and shows only the last 30 days of notes. Older notes are stored, not deleted, and come back if you upgrade again. If you want copies, export them before Pro ends: Voicenotes' privacy policy points to the in-app export, and there is no bulk export: Voicenotes staff said in March 2026 it was on the roadmap and pointed to the Obsidian, Zapier, Readwise and webhook integrations instead. Voicenotes lists Zapier and Obsidian among Pro's advanced integrations, so set up any export before Pro ends. The help center doesn't say what happens to Pages. Deleting your account is different: Voicenotes says it removes all associated data.

In the store, not in Voicenotes. On iPhone or iPad: Settings > your name > Subscriptions > Voicenotes > Cancel Subscription. On Android: Play Store > profile icon > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions > Voicenotes > Cancel subscription. Voicenotes can't cancel or refund these plans. If the app shows you as a free user even though you pay, Voicenotes explains that Apple or Google may have tied the purchase to a private relay email instead of the one you log in with; email team@voicenotes.com with your login email and the store's order ID and it will move the subscription to your account.

Yes. Some App Store plans start with a 3-day free trial, and Voicenotes says to cancel it in your Apple subscriptions at least 24 hours before it ends, because Apple may already have processed the renewal if you cancel later. A Voicenotes team member told a user on the company's subreddit in January 2026 that their account had moved onto the Weekly plan automatically because the trial wasn't cancelled. On the web, a trial shows in Settings > Subscription as "Pro plan - Free trial" with the date billing starts; cancel through Manage subscription before that date.

Yes. Upgrade to Pro again from the app or voicenotes.com/pricing, and your full note history becomes visible again. Before your end date you can also undo the cancellation on Stripe's billing page: Stripe's customer portal lets customers renew a cancelled plan until the billing period ends. You rejoin at today's price, $9 a month on the web: Voicenotes staff have said on the company's subreddit that existing subscribers keep the price they signed up at and that older prices can't be bought by new subscribers, so a cheaper launch-era price won't come back once it lapses.
