Quick answer

This cancels a KOHO paid plan (Essential, Extra, or Everything) — not your KOHO account, which drops to free Non-Member. In the app open My Plan, scroll to Manage my plan (help also says Change my plan), then tap orange Cancel my plan. On web: web.koho.caMy PlanManage my planCancel plan. Benefits run to the end of the billing period; KOHO does not prorate refunds. Official steps: Cancelling a Plan.

Step-by-step instructions

1

Know what you are canceling

A paid plan sits on top of a free KOHO account. Canceling Essential, Extra, or Everything stops that subscription and moves you to Non-Member when the paid period ends. Your Spendable balance, card, and statements stay. Closing the KOHO account entirely is a different flow (Profile → Personal Details → Close Account) and still requires the plan and add-ons to be cleared first.

2

Open My Plan in the KOHO app

Sign in to the KOHO app and open My Plan. That screen shows your current plan name, billing date, and plan type (monthly or yearly). KOHO bills the plan from your account (often KOHO Spendable) — this is not an App Store or Google Play subscription for normal plan billing.

3

Scroll to Manage my plan

Scroll down and open Manage my plan. KOHO's Cancelling a Plan article also labels this step Change my plan — both land on the Manage plan screen. You should see your current plan, a purple Change control, payment methods, and an orange Cancel my plan link.

4

Tap Cancel my plan

Tap the orange Cancel my plan link under payment methods. On the web portal the same control reads Cancel plan. Follow the on-screen confirm — do not stop after opening Manage plan, or the plan keeps renewing.

5

Confirm, then write down the end date

Finish the confirmation screens until cancel is accepted. KOHO keeps your paid benefits until the end of the current billing period (through the yearly end date if you are on annual billing). After that the account becomes Non-Member. Check My Plan again and note the date — there is no prorated refund for unused days.

If this applies to you

If you prefer the web portal

Sign in at web.koho.ca/login, open My Plan → Manage my plan, then select Cancel plan. KOHO's Cancelling a Plan help page documents this path alongside the app. Use the same account email you use in the app.

If you want to downgrade instead of leaving

On Manage plan, tap purple Change and pick a lower plan (for example Everything → Essential). Confirm when the summary shows the new price and the date the cheaper plan starts. Downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing cycle; you keep the higher plan's benefits until then and typically pay nothing today on that confirm screen.

Cancel Cover, Credit Building, or other add-ons separately

Cancelling the plan does not stop Cover, Credit Building, or other KOHO subscriptions. Any plan discount on Credit Building (for example Extra or Everything off) reverts to the regular price when the plan ends. Cancel those products from their own settings in the app if you want them off too.

Free trial or referral months: cancel before they convert

Paid plans include a free trial window, and some referrals grant free months of Everything. When the trial ends, KOHO converts to the regular paid rate on the renewal date. Use the same Cancel my plan path before that date if you do not want the first paid charge.

If this applies to you

If you actually want to close the KOHO account

Cancel the paid plan (and Cover, Credit Building, Crypto, and other add-ons) first. Redeem cash back, move Goals/Vault/RoundUps to Spendable, repay Cover or Credit Building balances, transfer out remaining funds, and download statements. Then Profile → Personal Details → Close Account (or Settings → Personal Details → Close Account on web) to reach support for closure. Cards deactivate after processing; you get a confirmation email.

If Manage plan shows "Something went wrong…"

Copy the Issue ID from the modal, screenshot it, tap Got it, and retry on a stable connection. If it keeps failing, contact KOHO support in the app or web app and share the Issue ID. Unexpected charges after a cancel should go through the same support channel — official policy is non-refundable for normal cancels, but support will review errors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not for another plan renewal, once Cancel my plan (or Cancel plan on web) completes. You keep paid benefits until the end of the billing period already paid for — including through the yearly end date on annual plans — then the account moves to Non-Member. Cancel before a free trial or referral window ends if you want to avoid the first paid charge. Cover and Credit Building are separate and can still bill.

KOHO's Plan Refund Policy states all plan purchases are non-refundable. Canceling mid-cycle stops future renewals but does not return unused days; you keep benefits through the paid period instead. If a charge looks wrong (failed trial cancel, double charge, billing error), contact support in the KOHO app or web app — that is the documented path for unexpected charges, not an automatic prorated refund. Canadian consumer rules and distance-selling rights can still apply depending on your situation; raise those with support if relevant.

The account stays open as Non-Member after the paid period ends. Your Spendable balance, card, and history remain. Paid-plan cash back rates, higher interest, and fee waivers end when the plan does — Non-Member keeps the free account features KOHO lists for that tier (including a lower interest rate once opted in). Redeem cash back and move Goals/Vault/RoundUps money before you close the account entirely; statements are harder to get after full closure.

No. Canceling Essential, Extra, or Everything only ends the paid plan. Closing the account is Profile → Personal Details → Close Account (or the web Settings path) after you cancel paid products, clear balances, and download records. KOHO support finishes closure and emails confirmation. If you only want to stop the monthly or yearly plan fee, use Cancel my plan and leave the Non-Member account alone.

Yes — same My Plan → Manage my plan → Cancel my plan flow (or Cancel plan on web). KOHO says trials and referral free months convert to paid subscriptions when they end, so cancel before the trial end / renewal date to avoid the regular rate. After you cancel, benefits still run to the end of that trial or billing window.

Yes. KOHO says you can sign up for a plan again anytime from My Plan in the app or on the web. If you still have benefits left on a canceled plan, wait until Non-Member starts or change plans from Manage plan as offered. Switching yearly billing down to monthly is not a one-tap change — cancel the yearly plan, let it finish, then join a monthly plan (or ask support). Free trials are typically for new plan periods; do not assume a returning signup gets another free month.
