Quick answer

OpenPhone is now Quo, and you cancel it in the web or desktop app. Open Settings > Plan & billing, scroll to the bottom and click End free trial, pick a reason, then click Cancel subscription. On a paid plan, Quo's help center says the button reads Cancel Subscription and you confirm by typing "Cancel" and clicking Yes, cancel. A paid plan runs to the end of the billing period with no refund. Port your number out before you cancel if you want to keep it: Quo's own pages give 30, 45 or 60 days for how long it holds numbers, so plan on 30, and porting isn't available during the free trial.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. If this applies to you

Port your number out first if you want to keep it

Once its hold runs out, Quo releases your number for good, so if customers know it, move it while your plan is still active. Start the switch with your new carrier and fill in Quo's port-out request form (toolbox.quo.com/p/port-out-request/newsubmission). Within 24 to 48 business hours Quo emails the account number and PIN your new carrier needs. The transfer takes 1 to 14 days, and the number keeps working on Quo until then. Only an Owner or Admin can submit the request, and porting isn't available during the free trial. A finished port doesn't cancel your subscription, so come back and cancel once it completes.

  2. If this applies to you

Export your data and spend your balance

Quo deletes workspace data 30 days after you cancel. A workspace Owner can export contacts, call logs and message logs as CSV files from Settings > General > Export your data. They arrive by email within 24 hours, and the link expires after 72. The export leaves out call recordings, voicemails, transcripts, AI summaries and media, so download any you need by hand. Got money in your Voice & messaging balance? Spend it on international calls or texts first. Quo's credits article describes no refund for it, only a Use towards subscription button, and in our capture both balance buttons were greyed out once the plan was canceled.

  3. Open Settings > Plan & billing

Sign in to Quo on the web at my.quo.com or in the desktop app (old my.openphone.co links redirect there). Click Settings in the left menu, then Plan & billing under Workspace. You need the Owner or Admin role, the two that can manage billing. On a trial the page shows your plan, how many days are left and the date your card will first be charged. Switch to paid plan and Change plan don't cancel anything: Change plan only moves you to a different plan.

Quo Settings > Plan & billing page on a Business Monthly trial with 6 days left, the line You won't be charged until your trial ends on Aug 18, Switch to paid plan and Change plan buttons, plan charges of 2 × Business Plan at $33.00 / month, and a next payment of $66.46 USD billed on Aug 18, 2026
  4. Click End free trial (or Cancel Subscription) in the Danger zone

Scroll down past Payment method to the Danger zone. On a trial it's headed End your free trial and says the trial stays fully active until the 7 days are up. After that, Quo keeps your numbers for 30 days: nobody in the workspace can call or text, but you can still read conversations and workspace data. Click the red End free trial button. On a paid plan, Quo's help center says the button at the bottom of this page reads Cancel Subscription and that you confirm by typing "Cancel" and clicking Yes, cancel. Our screenshots come from a trial, so the paid-plan screens may look different.

Bottom of Quo's Plan & billing page with a Danger zone tag above the heading End your free trial, text saying the trial stays active until the end of the 7-day free period and numbers are retained for 30 days before removal, and a red End free trial button above the Invoices list
  5. Pick a reason for leaving

A window headed We're sorry to see you go asks why you're leaving. Choosing one of the six reasons is required: the Cancel subscription button stays greyed out until you do. The feedback box underneath is optional, and Back closes the window without canceling.

Quo We're sorry to see you go window listing six reasons (Can't get codes or use with another service, Problems or technical issues, Missing features, No longer needed, Issues with US texting, Other), an optional feedback box, a Back link and a greyed-out Cancel subscription button
  6. If this applies to you

    Answer the follow-up question

Picking No longer needed opens a Select dropdown asking for more detail. The choices are a single-use option for verification codes, No longer traveling or living abroad, Changed job or employer, Sold my business or paused operations, New service includes a business line, or Other. Cancel subscription stays grey until you choose one. Other reasons may ask their own follow-up; only this one is shown here.

The cancel window with No longer needed selected and its Select dropdown open, listing Single use (e.g. verification code, registe…), No longer traveling or living abroad, Changed job or employer, Sold my business or paused operations, New service includes a business line, and Other
  7. If this applies to you

Type a reason if you chose Other

Choosing Other in that dropdown opens an Enter another reason box, and the button stays greyed out until you type something in it. A few words are enough. The additional feedback box at the bottom is a separate field and can stay empty.

The cancel window with No longer needed and the follow-up Other selected, an empty Enter another reason box beneath them, and the Cancel subscription button still greyed out
  8. Click Cancel subscription

With every required answer filled in, the Cancel subscription button turns red. Click it. The button says subscription even when you're ending a trial.

The cancel window with No longer needed, the follow-up Other and a typed reason reading Our business is still small, so we can manage all our communications manually for now, and the Cancel subscription button now red and clickable
  9. Check for the inactive banner

Quo returns you to Plan & billing with a Your subscription has been canceled notice. A red Your subscription is inactive banner, with a Renew link, now runs across the top of the app. On a paid plan, Quo's help center says a confirmation email follows. Keep it, along with your last invoice, in case a charge shows up later.

  10. If this applies to you

If you pay through the App Store or Google Play

Quo also bills through Apple and Google, and its help center sends those subscribers to the store to cancel. On iPhone: Settings > your name > Subscriptions > Quo. On Android: Google Play Store app > Menu > My Apps > Subscriptions > Quo. If you also added a card inside Quo at some point, check both places; Quo's own help center warns about being charged twice when you switch.

  11. If this applies to you

Want the workspace erased? Email support after canceling

Canceling doesn't delete your workspace straight away; Quo removes the data on its own after 30 days. To have it erased permanently, an Owner or Admin cancels first, then emails support with the subject "Request to permanently delete [Company name] account". Quo's help center still lists help@openphone.co for this. Deletion can't be undone, so export first.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Quo the same as OpenPhone?

Yes. OpenPhone renamed itself Quo on September 23, 2025 ("Today, we're rebranding to Quo," in the CEO's announcement on Quo's blog), and the company behind it is still OpenPhone Technologies, Inc. It's the same product and account: old my.openphone.co and openphone.com links now redirect to quo.com, so an OpenPhone subscription cancels exactly as this guide describes.

Will I be charged after canceling Quo?

No. On a paid plan your workspace stays fully active until the end of the billing period you've paid for, and no further charges follow. Ending a free trial before it runs out means no charge at all. Don't try to cancel by removing your card instead: Quo retries a failed payment five times, then cancels the subscription and holds your numbers for only 14 days.

Can I get a refund from Quo?

Not under its policy. Quo's help center says payments already made are non-refundable, and its Terms of Service say all fees paid are non-refundable. The Terms are a business contract and don't mention a cooling-off period. Annual plans are billed a year up front, so canceling the day after renewal leaves you paid up for the year, with access until it ends. One user on r/openphone reported that support refunded a trial that rolled into an annual charge after they opened a ticket, but that's goodwill, not a policy you can count on.

What happens to my Quo phone number when I cancel?

After your paid period ends, Quo holds your numbers for a while and then releases them, but its own pages disagree on how long. The help center's cancellation policy says 30 days at most, the Terms of Service say no more than 45 days, and the pricing page FAQ says 60 days. Plan on 30. During the hold nobody in the workspace can call or text, though you can still read conversations. After ending a free trial the hold is 30 days, and after failed payments it's 14. To keep the number, port it to another carrier before you cancel; porting needs an active paid plan.

Can I cancel Quo during the free trial?

Yes: Plan & billing > End free trial, as shown above, and you won't be charged. The 7-day trial needs a card and converts on its own to the plan and billing cycle you picked at signup. Chose annual? Then the first charge is a full year (users on r/openphone describe $180 and $800 charges they didn't expect). Quo says it will remind you before the trial ends. The card isn't charged during the trial unless you sign up for US carrier registration. One catch: you can't port a trial number out, so ending the trial means giving up that number after 30 days.

Can I restart Quo after canceling?

Yes. The Your subscription is inactive banner has a Renew link, and while Quo is still holding your numbers and data (30 days to be safe), renewing brings the workspace back. After that the numbers are released and the data is deleted, so you'd start over with a new number. If you registered with US carriers for texting, Quo says that registration expires after 30 days, and restarting means registering again, which carries a one-time $19.50 fee.
